Midweek selections from the PlayUp form analyst. G1 Thousand Guineas day at Caulfield is the highlight of the afternoon.
Caulfield R1 #6 Capital Legend $3.90 at PlayUp – This horse was very good fresh at The Valley behind Rhinoceros, getting back to last in a race where the leader was the winner, and flying home through the line with a race fastest last 200 metres. Much better for that resumption to racing, will be fitter here and likely finds better going from a wider draw in the straight. That last start winner goes up 0.5kg, while Capital Legend drops 1kg, meaning it is much better suited at the weights.
Caulfield R2 #3 Floating Artist $1.75 at PlayUp – Scratched from Saturday to run here, and finds a much weaker race to its liking. Drawn very well here in the small field, and should be making it four on the bounce on his way to a Caulfield Cup this Saturday. His last start win only rated 3L slower than the G1 win on the same day over the same trip, and the tempo was moderate at best, with the horse eased down over the line. Nugent sticks, cannot see him getting beaten.
Caulfield R8 #1 Only Words $5.50 at PlayUp – This horse was an absolute certainty beaten fresh at The Valley in a G2, and was heavily backed as well on that occasion. Sat in an awkward position on the fence, and was held up until the last 50m where she launched through the line and was only beaten 1.7L. Barrier three over this track is much kinder, she can hold a position off the fence and now in weaker grade can atone for the last start defeat.
Warwick Farm R8 #12 Six Again $3.80 at PlayUp – Very promising win last start from the M Dunn trained horse, putting a Newcastle maiden field away by close to 4L. This for obvious reasons is harder, but she looks like a mare with a lot of potential and has the ability to hold form. Barrier two looks a perfect draw, and down on 55.5kg is a huge tick also. Maps for the right run here over 1100m and should be making it two on the bounce.
