Racing Tips: 4th March

Huge day of G1 racing around the country, check out the PlayUp form analyst’s selections below.

Flemington R4 #10 Wango Award $23.00 at PlayUp – Going to speck this runner at big odds, who is flying this prep and running good time in the process. The last start win at Pakenham was very strong, settling back and running the fastest last 400m and 200m’s of the entire night to score. She is a filly who is really progressing through the grades nicely with a strong turn of foot, and crucially will have some race fitness on some key rivals. Drawn the grandstand side which is always favourable down the Flemington straight, I can see her running a very bold race at big odds.

Flemington R7 #14 Attrition $9.00 at PlayUp – Keen to bet against the favourite here from a price perspective, coming into this fourth up and arguably should be unbeaten this prep. The first two wins at Sandown and Geelong were as visually impressive as they were sectionally impressive, continually running strong overall times and meeting best sectionals. He was terribly held up back in the field at the CS Hayes last start and got clear only late, flashing through the line to run fifth beaten only just over a length. This has always been the grand final target, and looks set to make the field with the big booking of J Kah.

Flemington R8 #7 Uncle Bryn $7.50 at PlayUp – Keen on this runner second up here to turn the tables on a few he has previously met. He was solid from well back in a listed race here when resuming over 1400m, making good ground through the line behind the in form Scallopini. He clashed with a few of the key rivals here in the G1 Toorak of last season, and although well beaten there he has progressed in leaps and bounds since, including a dominant Cranbourne Cup win against a handy field. Previous second up winner, and a four time winner at the distance so the step up to the mile will really suit.

Randwick R6 #1 Eduardo $4.00 at PlayUp – First up and way over the odds here, a seasoned professional who quiet simply comes up against a very winnable bunch in the G2 Challenge Stakes. Giga Kick has won an Everest, but looked only fair in recent jump outs leading into this, and the rest of these horses are probably not of G1 level. Eduardo has an excellent first up record since joining the Joe Pride stable, and has a 50% winning strike rate over this trip. He has beaten Nature Strip, the worlds best sprinter, twice, and maps to lead uncontested here from the barrier. Looks a great bet here, a genuine top line G1 horse.

Randwick R7 #8 Imperatriz $2.30 at PlayUp – Fourth up, and coming off a spectacular G1 win in NZ last start over the 1400m, putting a huge margin on the field and running a very good overall time in the process. This horse is a genuine top level Group one galloper, and lines up here against key rivals who are lacking race fitness, and quiet frankly not to her level. The booking of James McDonald is a massive push within itself, she maps perfectly on speed from the barrier, and if she is able to replicate what she did last start, she will be winning.
