Racing Tips: 30th April

The winter carnival’s really starting to heat up from Brisbane and Adelaide, with black type racing from both Morphettville and Eagle Farm this Saturday. There is also solid support programs from Sandown and Hawkesbury. Take a look at the PlayUp form analyst selections below.

Sandown Hillside R1 #5 Hell Hound $2.40 at PlayUp – Very impressive debut winner at Terang over 1000m, putting the field away effortlessly in the end for a 1.75L victory. She got back off a hot speed, but still managed to close off in the fastest last 200m split of the entire program which is an exceptional feat for a horse on debut. She even went close to breaking the track record, indicating she has above average ability. Fitter and improved for the race experience here second up, sticks to the 1000m and looks perfectly drawn.

Sandown Hillside R5 #10 Jayanthi $6.50 at PlayUp – Racing extremely well to start her career, including a debut second place behind Do Ya Punk at Ballarat on a heavy eight, and then returned to that venue to score comfortably last time out over 1200m. She put the field away there with a meeting fastest 400-200m split, giving her opposition no chance of catching her after that. She backed it up by then running the fourth fastest last 200m of the day, and won easily. Third up, well drawn a touch wider on the track to find better going, and clearly handles wet conditions.

Sandown Hillside R9 #14 Vitruvius $7.00 at PlayUp – Was a really good return to racing from this horse first up at Bendigo, running second to the talented Linas Legend in a competitive BM70. That race overall contained a number of very good horses, and i’m confident it will become a strong form line. He ran the meeting fastest last 200m split, and recorded his last 400m in a time that is 6L quicker than benchmark average. Second up and fitter, Brett Prebble has retained the ride which is a positive sign and he maps for the perfect run off barrier number four.

Eagle Farm R3 #1 Robodira $16.00 at PlayUp – Very excited to see this horse resume on some firmer footing, after struggling through the Sydney carnival after racing on very heavy tracks. It’s clear she is not a wet tracker at all, after being beaten 9L in a G3 PJ Bell on a heavy 9. Back in February when she was trialling, she ran second to September Run in a Randwick trial on good ground, and that horse has since won the G1 William Reid in Melbourne. She should be rock hard fit here for recent trialling and racing, K McEvoy is booked to steer, and i’m confident she will be greatly improved for the firm going.

Eagle Farm R6 #14 Arentee $3.40 at PlayUp – A very lightly raced horse coming into this race off a dominant maiden victory last time out at Doomben. He led them up that day running solid time, and skipped away for an easy 3.5L victory. He smashed the clock, and rated well enough to think that he can easily win a class three now second up and fitter. Drawn perfectly in barrier three to land right up on the bunny again, and the booking of K McEvoy for this run is a huge push that they expect the horse to repeat what it did first up.
