Racing Tips: 27th April

Midweek best bets from the PlayUp form analyst.

Sale R4 #4 Lottacheex $3.00 at PlayUp – This horse was very strong at Sandown first up, going down narrowly over the 1300m there after having not much luck. She sat last off a slow tempo on that occasion, and the leader ended up being the winner so the shape of the race was completely against, but after flying through the line she was only beaten 0.1L. She was 4L off the winner at Pakenham last start, but that winner is extremely smart and a number of horses from that race have since won. Third up here, low draw, bet up.

Sale R6 #2 Island Edition $2.70 at PlayUp – Consistent if nothing else is this horse, who has had five runs this prep for four minor placings, and a very close fourth place a few runs ago. He went within half a length of the winner at The Valley three runs ago and recorded a meeting fastest last 200m sectional against the pattern of the night. He gets a drop in grade into this race, having last contested a BM70 over 1000m and again was only beaten 0.4L on the line. Super fit and holding his peak now, strikes a very weak race and can be finally winning here.

Sale R7 #4 Tavistorm $1.95 at PlayUp – Very smart 3yo stayer who strikes an incredibly weak BM64 for his troubles, and should be winning. He was last seen running 5th in the G2 Tulloch Stakes down in Sydney, and was far from disgraced behind Benaud. That horse then went extremely close to beating Hitotsu in the G1 ATC Derby, which is an extremely strong form line. I’m surprised they didn’t;t push forward to that G1 feature with this horse, but nonetheless here he is drawn a low barrier over 2200m in a Sale midweek race. Bet

Warwick Farm R3 #4 Samarkand $2.60 at PlayUp – This horse is a noted wet tracker and is coming off an extremely dominant first up win at Kembla on a bottomless heavy 10. He put away a class one field by 2L over the 1500m, a huge run considering he lacked race fitness and it proved he just loves heavy going. Will strip much fitter for that win, and now second up where he is a proven winner in the past. Gets a huge booking of H Bowman, who is not a regular stable rider, and from barrier eight will find the better going as well.

Warwick Farm R6 #1 Game Theory $3.50 at PlayUp – This Snowden horse is flying at the moment, having won his past two runs on the bounce. That includes a heavy track victory two starts back at Gosford, where he showed real fight up on speed to hold off the challengers. Tommy Berry retains the ride off a last start Hawkesbury win, and fourth up here with peak fitness I dare say he should be very hard to hold off again. Comes in a few gates with all the scratchings, which means he maps for a good run as well.
