Sandown Hillside R5 #3 Fire $2.35 at PlayUp – Assume the stable have very high hopes for this horse, a son of Fastnet Rock who they immediately tipped out after a strong BM64 win back in February. He won by near 4L with a leg in the air at this track and distance, and I think with big Spring targets in mind thats why he was spelled, and now resumes in late July. He is drawn well, weighted well, and recent jump outs have been strong.
Sandown Hillside R7 #12 French Emperor $3.40 at PlayUp – First up for the new stable, and a recent Cranbourne trial shows that he is absolutely flying now in the hands of Price & Kent Jnr. He won that trial by a huge margin, hardly out of first gear while the rest were pushed along behind. It was the quickest 1190m trial by 10L, and Beau Mertens retains the ride for raceday. He is a previous first up winner, drawn well a touch wider, and should be winning here against an ordinary field.
Sandown Hillside R8 #3 La Marita $17.00 at PlayUp – Cannot believe the huge price about this proven fresh performer, who comes into this first up run off some nice jump outs. She flies fresh, having a record of 5:3-1-0 at this stage of the prep, and having a 4:3-0-0 record at the distance as well. She is a proven midweek winner and city grade performer, who will get a handy 2kg claim for a leading apprentice, looks well drawn, and surely will be around the mark.
Kensington R7 #10 Tawfiq Lass $3.80 at PlayUp – Looks a race that could be dominated by the Aus Bloodstock horses, and i’m more keen on the W Pike ride. She comes off a dominant last start win at Canterbury on a heavy 10, where she sat outside the lead and walked in. By this time on raceday, the track could be seriously downgrading and that would play right into her hands. She loves the 1300m trip, having won three from five attempts at it, and all five career victories have come on rain affected going. She is a good enough price now to have a bet, with the hope the rain comes and her price will drastically shorten.
