Racing Tips: 20th April

Midweek best bets from the PlayUp form analyst.

Bendigo R3 #10 Kaleidoscope Eyes $2.35 at PlayUp – Keen to see this runner back at the races, who has always shown good talent and now gets a nice chance to finally break through. Her run first up last prep was very strong, and i’m keen to use that as a good benchmark for how she should run today. She finished 4th at Geelong behind Xtra Gear on that occasion, and that winning horse was since very competitive in town. She has a very close second place on a soft7 at Kyneton, so i’m confident she will handle the wet going today, and the wide draw should be suitable for finding the better ground.

Bendigo R6 #10 Mosscon $4.60 at PlayUp – Second up here is the daughter of Mossman, and if we know one thing about the breed it’s that they are absolute swimmers in the wet track. She was beaten 5L first up at Albury, but that was in a feature race of the afternoon behind some pretty smart types. Second up here and fitter, looks well placed dropping in grade to the BM70 but only carrying 56kg. The wide draw again should suit on this track, as the better going is likely to be out there, and she is already a two time winner on heavy tracks including a very strong Warrnambool victory.

Bendigo R8 #2 Stagger Together $6.00 at PlayUp – This horse is a noted wet tracker, and i’m keen to see him back on his preferred surface here this afternoon. He put together two wins on the bounce earlier this prep, including a 4L demolition of the field here at the track over 1300m only two runs ago. Clearly goes well around here, and is dropping back from a very competitive midweek Sandown race behind Saint Of Katowice, who has since won in Sydney. Wide draw is positive today, and he is racing in very good form.

Canterbury R2 #3 Chain Of Gold $7.00 at PlayUp – This colt looks a very strong wet track prospect, and on the heavy 9 today at Canterbury i’m keen to be with him. He ran second on debut at Hawkesbury the other day, beaten only 0.75L on the line in a pleasing effort. His trials leading into this prep were very good, and they included a trial win at Rosehill on a heavy 8 by 1L, where he looked to skip effortlessly over the going. With race fitness now on his side, he should push forward to be handy from the wide draw, and can be factoring in the finish at a good price.

Canterbury R7 #13 Rapid Response $3.50 at PlayUp – Comes off a last start win does this Lees horse, and it was a solid performance on a very heavy Newcastle track to break through in maiden grade. Although this is clearly harder, I love that she has had two runs now this prep, both on heavy tracks, and they have both been very promising. Third up now and sticking to heavy surface, she will be rock hard fit and gets the big booking of J McDonald to boot. Barrier one is a slight concern, as the fence may be off with the wet track, but if she finds a good position in running she can angle away and be hard to beat.

CHANCES ARE YOU'RE ABOUT TO LOSE.
