Racing Tips: 19th March

A huge G1 day of racing here, headlined by five races at the top level from Rosehill. None bigger than the Golden Slipper for 2022, where Coolangatta is the current favourite for the big prize. Accompanied by All Star Mile day from Flemington, there is a mountain of winners to be found on a big day of action. Check out the PlayUp form analyst selections below.

Flemington R6 #2 Zaaki $2.50 at PlayUp – Undoubtedly set for this race, very keen the G1 winner can strike here in the All Star Mile. He was very good fresh behind Inspirational Girl with not much luck, forced back to the rail while the winner swooped and nailed it. A proven second up winner, and the wide draw suits a horse who can get back and join a wide running line. She was a one-time Cox Plate favourite before being scratched the day prior to the race, and the camp is very confident he will run a big race around this circuit.

Flemington R9 #10 As I Please $17.00 at PlayUp – Going to speck a roughie here in the last down the straight, with As I Please representing some value. He was very good running second here at the track and trip two runs ago, before being absolutely luckless at Sandown last start over 1000m. That was off a 5 week gap between runs as well, and he went over the line in behind runners completely untested. Fitter, and has a 50% winning strike rate at 1200m so back up to this distance a massive positive.

Rosehill R2 #4 Mazu $1.70 at PlayUp – This favourite looks very smart for the Snowden team, and can make it three wins on the bounce here in the Listed Darby Munro. He beat a smart field over 1100m here first up, before winning the Listed Fireball stakes comfortably last start on a wet track. Clearly handles all conditions, and the step now to 1200m third up looks like vert smart placement. Drawn perfectly in barrier one, he should get a suck run in behind the speed and will just need an ounce of luck to get clear running late.

Rosehill R6 #4 Forgot You $11.00 at PlayUp – Keen to see something roll Anamoe here in the G1 Rosehill Guineas, and I think Forgot You stepping out to 2000m third up is the key. Two runs back this prep have been very good, a 4th in the G3 CS Hayes and a 4th in the G1 Australian Guineas are strong form lines for this race, and form last prep equally as strong with a win over the 2040m at Moonee Valley. The soft track is right in its favour, as is the low draw of barrier four. Can’t believe its current price, and am very keen to play each way.

Rosehill R7 #6 Bankers Choice $16.00 at PlayUp – Wide open affair of the G1 George Ryder, and thought this Moroney galloper is great value. First up in Australia last start, he was absolutely luckless in the G2 Blamey at Flemington over the mile. Settled in an awkward position back in the field, and was strung up on heels the entire straight. Got clear late in the piece and flew home with the fastest last 400m and 200m sectionals of the entire day. Second up and fitter, and draws nicely a touch wider for a clearer run late. He’s a G3 winner in NZ, and can surely measure up here.
