Horse Racing Tips 6th March 2021

What an unbelievable day of G1 racing action we have before us, with top line racing in Sydney and also Melbourne throughout the day. The Newmarket and the Australian Cup are the features at Flemington, and our form expert has provided us tips and betting suggestions for both of those races. Randwick hosts the Randwick Guineas and the Canterbury Stakes, and the Golden Slipper picture will start to become clearer after the running of both exciting 2yo races earlier in the program. Check out all our selections below.

Flemington R5 #9 Mozzie Monster $21.00 at PlayUp – Going to have a small speck at this John Sadler trained horse who comes into this race fresh at big odds. She’s yet to win out of benchmark grade, but contested some strong races at the end of last prep including the G1 Caulfield Guineas where she was beaten just under 6L. 1100m here arguably a touch short, but I loved what I saw at the jump outs from this horse, responding really well under urgings at Caulfield in the latest heat over 800m. She has an unbeaten fresh record, and looks overs at $20+. Massive respect for the favourite Oxley Road who is worth a saver bet and looks hard to beat.

Flemington R6 #14 September Run $2.15 at PlayUp – Looks a seriously good thing here in the G1 Newmarket against what looks to be far inferior opposition. Second up in her prep, she was only half a length of Nature Strip last start in the G1 Lightnight and was in front not far past the post. That was a huge run fresh and arguably she could’ve won as well. Dynamite second up record including a Listed win last prep, and she is already a G1 winner in the Coolmore at this track and trip. Rates so much higher than anything else in the field, as long as she gets clear running she will win.

Flemington R8 #3 Fifty Stars $4.20 at PlayUp – Keen on Fifty Stars to defend his title and win back to back Australian Cups, after taking out last years edition in fine style. His prep this time around has been more or less exactly the same, with an ok fresh effort, followed up by a huge run in the G2 Blamey Stakes over the mile. He spotted them a huge start and rattled home, only to be beaten by a smart one in Star Of The Seas who found enough in the closing stages. He is running just as well if not better, as he is last year and looks set to hold his peak rating into this run. Just needs a touch of luck from barrier three, but the tempo looks solid and with clear running he will have every chance to win. Have a saving bet on Shared Ambition who was very good last start in a different form line, and will probably have more luck in running than Fifty Stars.

Randwick R4 #7 Mount Popa $2.80 at PlayUp – Second up here and should be the favourite in our opinion, coming off a very strong second placing behind Shared Ambition last start fresh, and that horse is now a serious live chance in the G1 Australian Cup. This listed race looks perfect here second up, and the step to 2000m is crucial as well. If the course stays dry, that only enhances his chances as well. Should be every chance in the run from the inside barrier, and with the cold sit in behind the leading pair he should be too strong in the closing stages. Lightly raced here in Australia, tipping he will be having a big Autumn carnival if he can win this.

Randwick R5 #8 Written Beauty $5.00 at PlayUp – With the insane amount of speed predicted here in the G2 Challenge Stakes, it looks to set up perfectly for Written Beauty who will be back in the field watching it all unfold. The go forward horses here including Nature Strip, Bella Vella, Spaceboy and The Odyssey will set up a stupidly fast tempo which will enable the swoops to come into play. With a strong win already under her belt last start, and an unbeaten second up record which reads 2:2-0-0, I think the price around is very generous. Gets 4.5kg off the favourite Nature Strip, T Berry is riding in unbelievable form, and she looks the bet in this race.
