Horse Racing Tips 23rd January 2021

An outstanding day of thoroughbred action coming up this Saturday from around Australia, and our PlayUp form experts have come up with a number of best plays of the day for you. There is listed racing at Randwick, while some very competitive cards also take place at Sandown, Gawler, Doomben and Ascot. Take a look at our selections below.

Sandown Hillside R3 #9 Second Slip $3.60 at PlayUp – Looks a great battle of the on-pace horses in this race, and Second Slip seems to have the most potential in this field. Last start when fresh at Murray Bridge, he sustained a strong chase on a very hot tempo and kept finding all the way through the line to kick strongly and win. That effort was first up off a 300 day spell, and did not have any trials leading into it either. There should be a stack of improvement to come off that run, not that he would need to improve greatly to win in this field anyway. Strong second up form, well weighted in this level with 55kg, and the booking of J Kah is a positive.

Sandown Hillside R6 #4 Bella Tiara $4.40 at PlayUp – In what looks an exciting 3yo handicap, the Matthew Williams trained Bella Tiara represents some good value in the market. Fourth up into her campaign so is sure to be right at her peak now, she has two wins and a third placing from three runs so far. She was too strong for a decent field at Caulfield over 1400m last time, beating a smart one in Sensationalisation. After settling last in a race that was run quite slowly during the middle stages, she reeled off a very strong final 200m split time in order to get over the top and win. She will get back again here from barrier two, but this strong tempo that is expected in the race will again enhance her chances of winning.

Sandown Hillside R8 #2 Heart Of Puissance $3.00 at PlayUp – A return is finally imminent for this very talented, but very lightly raced 4yo son of Puissance De Lune. There is no doubting he has an abundance of untapped talent, but after some mouth/breathing issues and a number of setbacks, he has been unable to showcase his entire ability. According to the Maher/Eustace stable, he is finally back on track and ready for an Autumn assault, which kicks off now. He is exceptionally weighted with only 61kg in this weak bm70 event, seeing he is already G2 placed. Drawn very nicely in barrier three, he can easily account for this field and move on to better things.

Yarra Valley R6 #9 Tenacious Bet Now at PlayUp – One from left field here, Tenacious second up into its career coming off a nice maiden debut win at Stony Creek last start. She did really well on that day to beat Cop A Clip over 1000m on a heavy track. She was bolting for a run on the turn and had to push hard out into the clear, once there she let rip down the centre and got up in the late stages. She now comes to this bm64 race with only 54.5kg on her back, and will really appreciate an expected hot tempo in this race. Cop A Clip has since gone on to win a maiden in midweek grade, which seems to be holding up the form line.

Randwick R4 #6 Valaquenta $4.80 at PlayUp – Happy to be with the Godolphin horse here in Valaquenta, first up off a 10 week break, and was seen last prep running in very strong races in Melbourne, finishing behind September Run, Portland Sky and Muntaseera in strong listed events. His first up form is very strong, a win and a place from three fresh runs, and his recent trial over 900m at Rosehill was an eye catcher. Got back in running, and was bolting for a run under a huge hold back towards the inside. He crossed the line with group level horse Kolding, and looks very well placed to start his campaign in this bm78. Looks a hot speed on paper, so if they allow him to get back in the field and run on late, he can be too strong.

CHANCES ARE YOU'RE ABOUT TO LOSE.
