Horse Racing Tips 13th March 2021

Another huge G1 day of action comes around, at Rosehill it’s G1 Coolmore Classic day, while it is All Star Mile day at The Valley in Melbourne, with the venue hosting the running of the $5 million feature. There’s also black type racing at the Gold Coast, and it looks set to be a very wet track as well. Take a look at our expert selections below.

Moonee Valley R2 #7 Scorched Earth $2.50 at PlayUp – Third up here coming to this Listed event after absolutely romping in the 2yo MM Classic down in Adelaide. I love the way she bounced to the front on that day and never gave them a chance, pulling away to score by over 5L. Prior to that, she ran behind Arcaded with a gap back to third, who then went on to run in the Blue Diamond. She’s rock hard fit here, and profiles as the perfect Valley horse who will bounce and lead, control the tempo, and win. The booking of D Oliver is a huge push, get on.

Moonee Valley R3 #6 Kentucky Breeze $5.50 at PlayUp – Another one who represents value here in Kentucky Breeze, having 6 weeks between runs since being no match for swooping horses at Caulfield over the 1800m last start. Fourth up now, so will be peak fit and finally comes out to the right distance in this 2040m journey. His career peak rating is very good, and that was recorded on a soft track over this distance range… which is what he should find today. Two wins from four attempts at this track and trip, and looks to slot in just behind the pace for a very cushy run. Jamie Kah is a massive booking for obvious reasons, and looks a great each way bet.

Moonee Valley R4 #2 Age Of Chivalry $5.00 at PlayUp – Think this horse represents some good value here in the fourth, coming to this Listed event first up. He has been locked into this prep with three consecutive jump outs, which perked my interest as it is not usual for this horse who is usually aimed at longer distance races later in the prep. He won a few of the jump outs very impressively, and is sure to come into this run very forward in condition. Last prep he ran 2nd behind Viridine at this level, and has good form at The Valley with two black type placings, including behind subsequent G1 winner Homesman. He maps to sit in behind the pace here, and if they overdo it in front he looks the winner.

Rosehill R6 #2 Embolism $8.00 at PlayUp & #9 Impecunious $4.60 at PlayUp – Going well and truly with the Melbourne form lines here, and having a strong two bet play in the G2 Phar Lap Stakes. Starting with Embolism, who managed to turn his form around in the G1 Aus Guineas and run under 1L off the winner. He was caught in an awkward position in running off a slow tempo, and forced back to inferior ground on the inside in the straight before just peaking late. He gets Nash aboard here, sticks to the trip and is a huge chance third up now in Sydney. As for Impecunious, I thought she would be a clear favourite here. She was huge fresh behind Yes Baby Yes in the G2 Armanasco and arguably should’ve won too. Second up now and fitter, and gets a huge chance to atone with G Boss sticking aboard. She has a lovely draw, drops 1.5kg, and with some key scratchings here of Elizabeel and Miravalle who went around on Friday at Kembla, she will shorten considerably!
