Greyhound Tips 15th January 2021

Massive night of greyhound racing tonight at Wentworth Park with the running of three heats of the Group 1 National Futurity and seven heats of the Group 1 National Derby. Both these events have a long history in our sport being events for restricted aged greyhounds, one for the females and the other for the male greyhounds. All the heats tonight have great depth and appear very even, finding winners on the program will not be an easy task. The finals of both events will be conducted next Saturday at Wentworth Park, where in addition to these two Group 1 finals, the final of the Group 1 Paws of Thunder will also take place. Four heats for that even will take place tomorrow night at Wentworth Park. All in all it means next Saturday will be a bumper nights racing.

The Meadows in Victoria are also racing tonight, moving from their normal Saturday night to allow Warragul to take centre stage tomorrow night for the final of their 2021 Warragul Cup. And what a race that will be, with no doubt many people interested to see if Shima Shine can break his own track record that he established last week in the heats. He really is a star when he finds the front. Over in the west tonight, Mandurah have five heats of the Dawesville Cup over the 490 metres, and all heats are stacked with quality, again making the task of finding a winner very difficult. Best of luck tonight punters.

Wentworth Park Race 1 No 8 Ice Cream Story $2.50 at PlayUp – Can run extraordinary times when given a clear run but she has proved inconsistent at box rise on occasions. We think this box will suit her and she does have the speed to settle close to the lead. She is strong in the latter stages. Potential to be one the best in the country. Selections: 8-5-6-1.

Wentworth Park Race 5 No 3 Zipping Kyrgios $2.50 at PlayUp – Huge motor when he gets room to move. That motor was on full display last week when he was a commanding winner at this track and distance. A repeat of that effort will see him winning again. Selections: 3-6-1-2.

Wentworth Park Race 9 No 4 Tyler Durden $6.50 at PlayUp – Recent runner up in the Group 1 Silver Chief at The Meadows. No luck at all here last week in his first race start at this track. Expect improvement from that look. Very big motor and he looks really nice each way value in this race. Selections: 4-1-2-7.

Geelong Race 5 No 1 Mepunga Reject $2.30 at PlayUp – Strong heat winner last week from a middle draw, after finding early trouble. Had recorded a couple of very fast wins on city tracks prior. Looks well suited by the rails draw. Selections: 1-7-2-6.

Meadows Race 6 No 3 Utah Blues $3.30 at PlayUp – Very promising galloper who has done little wrong since moving to Victoria to be trained by Tim Britton. Very strong winner at Geelong last start when he made up many lengths in the home straight. Has won here recently leading all the way. Appears very well graded in this event. Selections: 3-2-4-8.
