Greyhound Tips 14th January 2021

Star WA sprinter Tommy Shelby has successfully made his way across the country, despite border lockdowns looking to derail all plans on a number of occasions in recent weeks. He has settled in well in Brisbane where he will contest a heat of the Golden Ticket tonight at Albion Park. He did arrive in time to trial between races last Thursday night, and despite not being able to break the 30 second barrier in that trial, we do expect him to improve sufficiently tonight to qualify for the match race series which will be held next Thursday.

Over in Adelaide, the final of the SA Sprint Championship will be run at Angle Park after Coorong Lucy and Rushes were successful in the two heats run last week. Good Juan will again compete in the staying race on the program, backing up after his brilliant victory last week in what must have been a very pleasing moment for connections following a run of outs. Friday and Saturday nights our focus will be firmly set on racing at Wentworth Park with two nights of outstanding racing to take place. Three heats of Futurity and seven heats of the National Derby will be run tomorrow night, whilst four heats of the Paws of Thunder will take place on Saturday night. All three finals will be held on the one program the following Saturday night in what promises to be great nights racing. Let us find you a winner for tonight.

Albion Park Race 1 No 2 Street Cry $2.90 at PlayUp – Tony Brett trained youngster who was very costly for punters last start when finished well down the track. That was 4 weeks ago. We do expect him to show that his form on that night was not the real Street Cry. Had won here in good time previously. Looks nice value really. Selections: 2-1-7-6.

Sandown Race 3 No 2 Lakeview Cruiser $3.00 at PlayUp – Litter brother to recent Silver Chief winner Lakeview Walter, and showed last start that he is blessed with similar ability when a scintillating winner over 520 metres at Sale in a flying 29.26 in a heat of this event. Well suited drawn close to the rails. This race looks ideal race to allow him to break his city duck. Selections: 2-4-6-8.

Dapto Race 5 No 6 Good Odds Rebel $2.70 at PlayUp – Four solid placings since winning here in fair time. Led up last time at Wentworth Park and only collared in the shadows of the post in very good time. A repeat of that effort should see him winning this. Selections: 6-5-1-2.

Angle Park Race 8 No 1 Shadow Mist $2.25 at PlayUp – Star SA sprinter whose form on paper appears to have dropped away. But remember he has been travelling the country chasing Group 1 and having no luck in both the Million Dollar Chase and the Hobart Thousand. No luck here last week when cannoned into shortly after box rise in his heat. Expect sharp improvement. Loves the rails draw. Selections: 1-2-7-3.

Angle Park Race 11 No 3 Miss Bellawood $9.00 at PlayUp – Four dog race should see her finding the lead in the run to the first turn. Last week she has zero luck in almost identical field, allowing Good Juan to position close to the front and allow him to show his true ability. It will be a different story if Miss Bellawood leads here, we can see Good Juan a long way off the lead early and then we wonder will he perform at his best. We hope not and hence the selection of Miss Bellawood. Selections: 3-5-7-1.
