Best Bets 25th April 2020

Midweek racing continues for the final time in the month of April, and we have five exciting Australian meetings to bring to you, as well as the customary Wednesday night racing from Happy Valley. PlayUp form analyst Lewis Willoughby has identified his five best plays of the day, with three good chances at Sandown, a standout pick from Warwick Farm, and a cheeky play in the opener at Happy Valley. Check out his selections below:

Sandown Hillside R1 #2 Bungalow Bill $2.70 at PlayUp – Comes here second up off the back of a very sound fresh effort at Pakenham. Sat outside the lead and was just no match late, condition giving out over the concluding stages. Nonetheless, the run still rated really well. Second up fitter now, and from barrier three he can lead easily, and control the race to suit. Up to 1300m helps, and with a possible leader bias early on in the day, this race looks his for the taking.

Sandown Hillside R2 #1 Show Some Decorum $2.90 at PlayUp – Won easily on debut last start at Sale, extended very well in the straight and was eased down over the concluding stages for a dominant victory. Sticks to the 1000m here, but will be sharper and fitter for his first up performance. 61kg is a big weight for a 2yo to carry, but he remains very well weighted in comparison to the field, only giving away 4kg to the bottom weight, who will surely struggle against these. From barrier three he will be right up on speed, if not leading, and could prove too strong yet again for this field.

Sandown Hillside R7 #3 Sonaree $12.00 at PlayUp – I think this could be the value race of the day. Sonaree is coming off a sound last start win at good odds against a really strong bm64 field. He was slightly flattered by the on-pace bias on the day, but still had to dig deep and fight through the line to win. Getting up to the mile will only suit further, his record is 5:1-3-0 at this trip. From barrier 11 he will be handy to the speed again, and although he rises in grade, the claim for T Nugent allows him to remain at the same weight. Should give a great sight at the double figure quote.

Warwick Farm R6 #12 Significance $2.30 at PlayUp – Coming off an outstanding 7L win in a Wyong maiden over the mile, i’m tipping that this O’Shea trained colt will carry that much needed confidence boost into todays event. The key for this bloke is undoubtedly the dry track. He ran third behind All Time Legend first up on a good 4, which is a strong form line, before striking two wet tracks in his subsequent starts and not running well at all. Hopefully the rain manages to stay away, and he can be making it two in a row.

Happy Valley R1 # 7 Good Days – Third up now from a freshen, two runs in equal grade at Sha Tin have been very good, coming from off the speed both times and finding the line very well. Third up now looking to peak in fitness and performance, he has been crying out for this step up in distance and finally gets it. Out to the 2200m, he maps perfectly from barrier three to get a suck run back on the fence, and the booking of Z Purton is a major push for his chances. He has won at the track previously, and it would be no surprise to see him winning tonight.
