Best Bets 11th January 2020

Saturday the 11th of January and Magic Millions day is finally upon us! A few trainers and owners who have spent the big dollars during the week at the sales will be looking to recapture some of that money, with the $2million 2YO & 3YO races, as well as 5 other races worth $1million. There is also Listed racing at Flemington with the Chester Manifold Stakes, and Randwick hosts the Listed January Cup. With such a large day of racing ahead of us, PlayUp form analyst Lewis Willoughby has outlined six bets that should be paying off today! Have a look below.

Flemington R3 #11 Paul’s Regret $4.20 at PlayUp – This horse pulled up with a slow recovery issue last start, but first up was a really solid winner at The Valley over 1200m. I believe you always have to forgive one bad run, I expect this filly to bounce right back, drawn 8 so will find cover out wide in the better part of the Flemington straight, and the price on offer is good too. Michael Boy takes 2kg off, so will be carrying 54.5kg.

Flemington R8 #9 Kazio $6.00 at PlayUp – Three runs so far this prep have been very sound, most recently finishing 2.5L off the flying Yulong January over 1400m. Steps to the mile for the first time this trip, and will be getting carted right into the race from the soft draw in barrier 1. Has never won at 1600m, but has placed behind nice types and should get every favour today.

Randwick R4 #1 Luvaluva $2.20 at PlayUp – A dominant 3L win by this galloper last time out in a G3 race over this track/distance. Comes here sticking to the same 2000m trip, and I think the 59kg does not hamper this horse at all. The class should be rising to the top here and he should be making it two wins in a row.

Randwick R9 #7 Mr Dependable $1.60 at PlayUp – Two wins on the bounce this prep have been super, most recently knocking over the talented Rocha Clock by 2.5L. This race is by no means harder, holds 58kg and from the barrier it should roll forward straight away and control the tempo. Probably at its rock bottom price now, use it as an anchor in multi’s and quaddies.

Gold Coast R4 #5 Champagne Cuddles $6.00 at PlayUp – I think it is finally time for this mare to win! She competed in high class races last prep, finishing behind Pierata and Mizzy, and was not disgraced in any of those runs. Comes here first up off the back of a strong trial, and is known to fly fresh (first up record 7:3-4). She maps to find cover behind a hot speed, and Nash will present her at just the right time! Include 1/4/8/10 in any exotics also.

Gold Coast R5 #2 Irithea $4.60 at PlayUp – The first up run of this mare was very good, finishing less than a length off the winners. Comes here second up with a very good record at this stage, and draws the inside barrier which is a massive help. She should park herself in the lead with no hassle, and be too strong in the straight granted she doesn’t raise the tempo too quick. Current price is overs.
