Saturday racing selections from the PlayUp form analyst.
Caulfield R5 #3 Ice Pick Nick $5.50 at PlayUp – Have been really impressed with this unbeaten Maher and Eustace runner, coming off two very dominant victories to start his career. He lands straight up on the bunny at Ararat on debut ands never looked like being caught, and then demolished a handy field at The Valley last time out. His on speed racing style makes him a horse you can back with confidence, and I love how he can sit up on speed and still find a kick when asked to let down in the straight. The stable and rider both have a big opinion of him, keen he wins again.
Caulfield R6 #4 Kings Consort $19.00 at PlayUp – This runner was very unlucky not to win at Ballarat first up, being held up for a run at a crucial stage and still flying home late to grab third. He sat in behind the speed but when he needed to get out he got trapped, and it allowed the winner to skip away. He finished off still with the seventh fastest last 200m split of the entire program, and was super strong through the line. Maps perfectly here from barrier six to sit off a hot tempo, and should be fitter now second up as well. Way over the odds, worth an each way play.
Caulfield R8 #3 Junipal $3.40 at PlayUp – Giving this runner one more chance, coming into this race third up and reaching his peak for the prep. He was a real eye catcher first up at Flemington in a listed event behind Corner Pocket, who has since won again very impressively. He got caught on the fence on that day and was very strong through the line in restricted room late. He went to Flemington last start in a very competitive G3 race, and was a touch disappointing on face value. If we can forget that run, he is worth another chance here down in grade and up to the mile.
Randwick R6 #3 Quintello $2.10 at PlayUp – Very keen on this Maher and Eustace runner who makes her way to Sydney for the first time, off the back of a very strong first up win at Mornington. She won by a lazy 4L on that day, and that was eased down over the line as well. Her last 600m sectional was 3L quicker than benchmark average, and she did it off a very hot speed as well which adds a lot of merit. Very well drawn here in barrier two, she handles heavy going as highlighted by her debut placing on a heavy 8, and the booking of J McDonald signals big intent for a good run.
Randwick R8 #3 Diamil $2.45 at PlayUp – Really impressive UK import who has excelled since joining the O’Shea stables, recording an Australian debut second at Canterbury and a last start dominant Warwick Farm victory on a heavy 8. That’s the form line I want to be using, as he showed that he is very strong over a mile, and clearly records his peak figures when on heavy ground. Third up here and will only be fitter and improved for that last start win, the wide barrier should suit the pattern of the day, and he can be winning again here.
