The Trading Room: 5th January

WELCOME to the PlayUp Trading Room where you get insight on the days best bets, according to our traders.

Live from 9am everyday – let’s take a look at what’s on deck today;

NBA – Memphis Grizzlies @ Cleveland Cavaliers

The Grizzlies head to Cleveland off a huge win against the Nets in Brooklyn.

Cleveland remains one of the toughest teams in the NBA and the stylistic match up for these sides seems to favour the home team from a defensive stand point.

Darius Garland is expected to return, which will give the Cavs the firepower they need to take advantage of a fatigued & shorthanded Grizzlies team.

This line is a couple points short if Garland is cleared to play. Low risk, high reward play here against the markets.

Our best bet: Cleveland Cavaliers -3.0 $1.92 at PlayUp

Horse racing – Warwick Farm

This 3-year-old colt from the Chris Waller yard with James McDonald in the saddle.

He won his maiden nicely last start and draws barrier 2, so a perfect trail just off the speed looks guaranteed.

The $3.80 quote when the markets opened was snapped up and punters were happy enough to step into the $2.70 on offer after scratchings this morning – simply put, should be winning.

Our best bet: Warwick Farm Race 4, no. 3 – Sword Point $2.30 at PlayUp

Market mover
Reggiewood $19 –> $9.00

This 5-year-old gelding out of the Gerald Ryan/Sterling Alexiou yard has been the biggest go of the day and clearly the most intriguing runner.

After a nice win as a 3-year-old was sold and shipped off to Hong Kong where he failed to measure up. He has had 2 nice trials in Oz; the most recent just 4 lengths behind Beau Rossa.

Being first up for 10 months I would normally have my concerns but the weight of “Smart” money at the 19’s and again at the 12’s shows he is primed for a big effort at his Oz Debut.

Warwick Farm Race 7, no. 5 – Reggiewood $9.00 at PlayUp
