Saturday selections from the PlayUp form analyst.
Sandown R2 #2 Veecee $2.70 at PlayUp – Confident that this Maher and Eustace runner will be too good for them again here, coming off a strong debut win at Flemington in mid January. He sat without cover down the straight there, and was extremely impressive when asked to let down, running a meeting fastest 400-200m sectional. Eased up across the line, the overall time was dominant and suggest he is a colt with above average ability. Strikes a similar 2yo event here, drawn well, and Ethan Brown retains the ride.
Sandown R4 #1 Benedetta $2.35 at PlayUp – Flying is this filly, coming off two consecutive wins both as dominant as each other. She flogged them at Cranbourne over 1200m two runs ago, winning by 3.5L eased down and running very good time. She made the step to Sandown last time out and bolted in again, coming from off the speed to salute in simple fashion. Fourth up into her career here and should be ready to peak, sticks to the same track and distance as last start and is drawn for an off midfield run again.
Sandown R7 #11 Snapped $3.80 at PlayUp – Keen for this Freedman runner to bounce back here, off what was a horror watch at Rosehill last start. She made the trip to Sydney and started a dominant favourite, and should’ve bolted in but found all sorts of luck throughout the straight to get beaten. She dominated first up here at the Hillside, winning by near 3L and indicating she had returned in very good form. Third up now, a senior rider takes over, and she should be getting back to the winners stall from the good draw.
Randwick R8 #3 Aft Cabin $2.00 at PlayUp – The very talented Godolphin galloper resumes here, having spent three months on the sideline due to a bleeding attack. He was a dominant Caulfield Guineas winner at Group 3 level before the incident, and was well on track to become a G1 winner in his 3yo season. One trial leading in was a very dominant performance at Warwick Farm, and I dare say that due to the bleeding attack he will be quite forward here as they would’ve been testing him at home. Horses usually run very well first up after that kind of injury, and he is the clear class horse if he can resume where he left off.
Randwick R9 #4 Kettle Hill $3.80 at PlayUp – Giving this Maher and Eustace runner one more opportunity to showcase his ability that he clearly possesses. He was a certainty beaten in the first start for the stable at Sandown, but then has put in two underwhelming efforts here over 1400m and the mile. Although he has some excuses to offer for both, including racing too keenly off the speed last time out over the longer trip. Out to 1800m here I think will suit, has time to relax in running and is clearly very strong at the back end of his races. Drawn barrier one with J McDonald on again, they can be more positive from the draw and he cant run his luck around.
