Saturday racing selections from the PlayUp form analyst.
Flemington R1 #7 Megamea $3.30 at PlayUp – Racing really well this prep, with a strong first up victory at Sandown on a heavy track, and a close minor placing here over 1420m last time out behind a smart Australian Bloodstock horse. Her closing sectionals first up were all over 7L better than class average, and now coming here third up I think she is ready to win again. Perfectly drawn in barrier two, and is only carrying a lowly 54kg in a very winnable race. Happy to be against the current Waller favourite, who returns off a long spell. First up horses for Waller in Victoria are only three winners from 43 starters in the last six months, with a -56.7% profit on turnover.
Flemington R3 #8 Liberated Girl $3.90 at PlayUp – Very strong first up run here at the track and trip, finishing just under 3L off the winner in Kir Royale. The race has become a strong form reference, and this lightly raced filly can record her second victory here. She ran a meeting fastest last 200m split in that defeat, and will be all the fitter and better for the run. Drawn perfectly in barrier two, only 54kg in a winnable race, and the Moody/Meech combination is in good form of late.
Flemington R9 #5 Literary Magnate $6.50 at PlayUp – In great form this prep without breaking through, having finished top three in three from four starts so far. Beaten a lip carrying 61kg first up, then ran 4th in the strong Kir Royale race here over 1400m second up. Ran to within a length of Jimmy The Bear two starts ago, and arguably should’ve won at Sandown last start. She flew home with 69kg and just missed on the post, beaten by a horse who carried 5kg less than her. Ready to peak here, draws perfectly in barrier two with 55kg on her back for a senior rider.
Rosehill R5 #8 Petulant $4.40 at PlayUp – Comes into this third up off two very promising 2nd place finished so far. Went close fresh over 1000m on heavy going, and then ran well at Rosehill over 1100m last time out. Third up here and will have race fitness over some of her main rivals, and clearly relishes wet ground. A heavy track is expected at Randwick on Saturday, so with the wide draw she will be able to find the best going in the straight. The trainer/jockey combination is strong, and she looks the winner for mine.
