Racing Tips 27th October

MIDWEEK racing selections from the PlayUp form analyst.

Bendigo:

R1 #9 Oriental Legend $2.10 at PlayUp
Coming off a very good debut performance at Ballarat, tipping this Snitzel colt can break through at his second start here. Was caught three wide no cover the entire way in that run, and ended up dropping back to last on the turn. He picked up late a rocketed home through the line, almost winning in a last 200m sectional that was the 8th fastest of the entire day. Second up now, and the step to 1400m is ideal, he looks a smart horse and this looks a relatively weak race.
R2 #9 Spirit Of Pepin $26.00 at PlayUp
Want to have a good each way bet here, on a horse who I’ve black booked already twice in its three career starts. He was very good on debut at Bendigo running second, in a race which has already produced subsequent winners. He ran 3rd behind Mornington Glory who SP’d as a favourite in Saturday grade. He then went to The Valley last start and never say daylight the entire race, going over the line untested in a very ugly watch. Fourth up, well drawn, and looks a huge price to be bouncing back with even luck.
R4 #3 Jimmy The Bear $5.00 at PlayUp
Loved the debut win of this runner at Mildura, when he put the field away by over 2L in a dominant victory. He was stamped urgent from the wide draw to cross and lead, and got completely lost going wide on the turn into the straight. Once balanced though he kicked clear and won ears pricked, going 9L inside standard time as well. Second up now, has been given a tick over trial in the interim, and sticks to 1300m looking well placed from a soft draw. Can definitely be competitive here again.
Canterbury:

R1 #2 Agrimony $4.60 at PlayUp
Keen to give this import another chance, after he ran 5th as a well backed favourite on Australian debut last start. He finished 3L off Shibli, who has proven to be a strong form reference, and the run itself wasn’t terrible, it was a definite pass mark. That looks like the strongest form line of any runner in this race, and it will find this easier than that Saturday class race. Drawn well, and the SP profile tells you that near $5 should be a good bet.

R3 #5 Zarastro $2.50 at PlayUp
Very keen to see the return of Zarastro here, who’s only career run to date was a 2nd behind Paulele as a 2yo, which is very strong form. Trialed behind Profiteer back in January but failed to return to the races, but has since trialled very well twice and is set to resume now. Gets barrier one as a positive, and can lead and dictate terms from there. This looks a very winnable BM64 for a horse who is likely to reach greater heights.
