Australia Day selections at Caulfield and Warwick Farm from the PlayUp form analyst.
Caulfield
R2 #5 Jewellery
Godolphin have the strong hold on this years G3 Blue Diamond Preview for the fillies, and Jewellery although drawn wide looks the pick of the bunch. She was very good running 2nd behind Philosopher on debut, getting back to last of the small field and not having a whole lot of luck in the straight. She managed to run the 4th fastest last 200m sectional of the entire program, and now with race experience can go one better.
R3 #2 Asfoora
Very keen this Dwyer filly remains unbeaten, coming off two very smart wins at Colac and Stawell that were also backed up on the clock. She can sit up on speed and put herself into the race, and has shown to be capable of handling a hot speed in front and managing to find again in the straight. Strong race, but she is rock hard fit and in flying form.
R7 #5 Show Some Decorum
Thought this runner was way over the odds, coming into this race third up with a claim, and drawn perfectly in barrier one as well. His win at The Valley first up was very strong, and he couldn’t mow down the winner at Stawell from an impossible position in running. Third up now, 1400m suits, and the weight relief is a huge positive especially with a very soft run from the inside gate. If he gets the splits, he’s a huge each way chance.
Warwick Farm
R1 #2 Mars Mission
Very keen to see the return of this smart Hawkes’ runner, who was very good last August on debut at Sandown running third. He has since spelled, and two trials in Sydney leading in have been superb, including the latest where he was a soft 2L winner over the 900m at Rosehill. Clearly travels well in the Sydney direction, and should be afforded every chance by T Berry from the wide draw.
R4 #7 Fire
A very good first up performer is this horse, and that’s the situation he finds himself in here today. He went very close last prep at Randwick first up, and then was a super dominant winner at Bendigo next start. His sole trial leading into this prep couldn’t have been more impressive, beating the field by over 2L under not much duress at all. Looks perfectly drawn and very well weighted with only 54.5kg.
