Racing Tips: 25th March

Big G1 day of racing, take a look at the PlayUp form analyst selections below.

Flemington R2 #1 Shadow Fear $26.00 at PlayUp – Was keen on this horse on Friday night at The Valley, but they scratched from there in order to run here over 1200m in G3 company. This Perth filly bombed the start in the Blue Diamond prelude in her first run here in Vic, and for a horse who usually races up on speed it can go down as a forgivable effort. She finished 4th in her latest start here over 1000m, and attacked the line very well from in behind the speed. The 2nd horse there Butch Cassidy has since been a dominant winner, and I think the rise to 1200m now should suit.

Flemington R6 #8 What You Need $2.70 at PlayUp – Keen on this horse to replicate what was a dominant first up win here over 1100m when resuming a few weeks ago. He was sent out a bit big in condition, but beat his rivals with simple ease and will definitely improve a whole lot from that run. I love that he has drawn wider on the track here to find the better going in the straight, and this Listed event looks well within his reach seeing he should be a G1 horse in the making. Ben Melham retains the ride, and sticking to 1100m suits.

Flemington R7 #14 Steinem $9.50 at PlayUp – Surprised that there is double figures on offer about this Maher and Eustace runner who was a dominant winner of the G2 Peter Young Stakes leading into this. It was an excellent return to racing, chased a very hot speed and beat off Gold Trip who will start a clear favourite in the G1 Ranvet in Sydney. The Peter Young Stakes has been a historically strong form reference for this race, and he looks to be drawn well from barrier 12 to be in the running line with cover.

Rosehill R2 #11 Fightertown $14.00 at PlayUp – Third up here the regally bred Snitzel colt, and looks ready to put it all together at a big price. Albeit way up in grade for a horse with only two starts, coming off a 5th on the Kensington track in maiden level last time out. He wanted to do a lot wrong there, was laying out at the back of the field behind a slow tempo, and carried himself very awkwardly down the straight to the line. He managed to run very quick sectionals though, including the ninth best last 200m of the entire meeting. Drawn well and gets in with a very light weight against an even field, if he is able to sort out his issues he is a definite winning chance.

Rosehill R7 #3 Pavitra $3.40 at PlayUp – Keen on this Freedman runner to take out the G1 Vinery Stud stakes, coming off a very dominant Kembla Classic win last time out. She sat on speed and careered away for a huge 4L victory, running sharp time in the process as well. Shout The Bar progressed from the Kembla Classic to win this G1 only a few years ago, so I like the form reference and I can’t really see anything turning the tables on her. Doesn’t mind the sting out of the track, and has the option to roll forward from the draw to sit handy. Respecting the NZ filly, but this horse looks better from a price perspective.

THINK. IS THIS A BET YOU REALLY WANT TO PLACE?
