Racing Tips: 22nd June

Midweek selections from the PlayUp form analyst.

Cranbourne R1 #5 Li’l Wonder $3.40 at PlayUp – Dropping back from a competitive Saturday grade 2yo race at Flemington, she looks much better suited to a race of this company today. She was far from disgraced in that run down the straight, going around at big odds and was only 2L off the minor placegetters in a solid effort. Back around a bend will help, second up fitter, and looks very well drawn for leading rider Jye McNeil. The breeding suggests that todays heavy surface shouldn’t be an issue, possibly even more an advantage.

Cranbourne R4 #2 Idon’tgetit $2.90 at PlayUp – Racing very well this prep, including an unlucky sixth on debut three runs back, and a last start victory at Echuca in most dominant fashion. He put his rivals away by 5.5L on the line on that heavy 9 surface last time out, and will find very similar conditions here this afternoon. Up to 1600m now looks ideal, and based off the ratings from his win last start, it suggests he will easily measure up in benchmark grade against his own age.

Cranbourne R5 #7 Wintily $7.50 at PlayUp – Very good winning two runs ago at Kyneton in maiden grade, putting 3.5L on her rivals that day. She relished the wet conditions, and ran the second fastest 400-200m sectional of the entire program. For me, this highlights she has a strong turn of foot when required in the heavy going, and is clearly above benchmark grade. She was 5 weeks between runs into last start when finish 6th at Sale, but was far from disgraced. Back to peal fitness here, drawn and weighted well, should be a main player.

Canterbury R1 #1 Arch Of Titus $3.10 at PlayUp – Went extremely well on debut here over 1100m in similar wet conditions last time out, finishing a close second after leading them up throughout. He would’ve taken serious improvement off that debut run, and should be pushing across to lead again from the wide draw. With the added fitness, the step up to 1250m holds no concern, and it looks an easier race than last time as well.

Canterbury R4 #7 Hide Your Heart $2.45 at PlayUp – Been racing well this prep, with consecutive second placings at Newcastle over 1200m and 1400m to start off. She clearly handles wet going, and was actually unlucky not to win first up after being ridden unusually quiet. Third up here, drawn barrier one, and expect R King to make full advantage of that by jumping straight to the lead on the fence. We know that, at this track, that is exactly where you want to be in running and she can record her first win here this afternoon.
