WE’RE ready for another busy Saturday of racing action from across the country.
Here’s today’s racing selections from the PlayUp form analyst:
Moonee Valley
R1 #5 Duchy Of Savoy $2.50 at PlayUp
Great race to start proceedings here, and i’m siding with Duchy Of Savoy at a better price. Her first up win at Sandown was dominant, sitting outside the lead on a very hot tempo and still quickening in the straight to win by 3.5L. Without ever really leaving first gear, she still managed the 3rd fastest last 200m split of the day as well. Looks to have returned in excellent order, and might get a great run in behind the leaders here.
R6 #11 Sharp Response $3.10 at PlayUp
Very impressive behind Clemenceau at Flemington first up, finishing very close behind that runner who seems to have a lot of talent. Second up here, and will be much improved for the fresh run and looks as though he could be well suited here at The Valley. Should be swooping wide, and drops 2kg in equal grade here as well.
R8 #6 Exeter $17.00 at PlayUp
This horse was extremely unlucky at Caulfield last start, beaten 2.75L behind Scorched Earth down the straight over 1100m. He was badly held up in the closing stages just as he looked to be making very good ground, and never got a clear crack at the field late. He has an outstanding record here, with three wins from five attempts at the track and distance, and if he is able to overcome a wide draw he should be a huge each way chance. Lots of respect also for the favourite In The Boat, he looks a very speedy conveyance.
Randwick
R2 #14 Wild Calm $4.80 at PlayUp
This runner was very good on debut behind Coolangatta in the G3 Gimcrack, only beaten 4L. That horse as well know has since won the 2yo Magic Millions race and is a clear Golden Slipper favourite. Willd Calm got back to last off a strong tempo in that race on debut and flew home from an impossible winning position, with her last 400m and 200m sectionals being the fourth fastest of the day. Returns here off two strong trials and Tommy Berry sticks for the in-form Neasham yard.
R8 #13 Through The Cracks $3.90 at PlayUp
This horse was very good fresh running third behind Prime Candidate in the Listed Xmas Classic at Canterbury. Got back to last in running from a very slow tempo and flew home, but was a victim of the slow lead speed. Second up here, with an outstanding record at this stage of 4:3-0, and is also two from two undefeated at the 1400m distance. The wide draw is the only concern, but the horse will get back anyway and should be flying late.
