Midweek selections from the PlayUp form analyst
Sandown R6 #9 Three Rings $2.50 at PlayUp – This runner was very good first up at The Valley when finishing third in a handy bm64 race to start the prep. He got back and settled near last in the run, which is always a near impossible position to win from at that track and trip, but rattled home to finish within half a length of the winner. He ran the fifth fastest last 200 metre sectional of the entire meeting, and his overall race time was very strong. Second up now and fitter, and coming to the Lakeside track will give him a much better opportunity to sit back and run on.
Sandown R7 #5 Unusual Culture $2.70 at PlayUp – Third up and ready to win now is this Maher and Eustace runner, coming off two second placings at Sandown to start her prep. The latest of which behind British Columbia is a very strong form reference, seeing that it led and won and this horse was forced to make a run from back in the field, so the shape of the race was against it. Made up huge ground through the line, and finding an easier race against her own sex here should be crucial. Can sit handier from barrier five this time, and looks the main winning chance.
Sandown R8 #13 Sailors Book $6.50 at PlayUp – No reason to jump off this runner, who recorded one of the easiest wins you will ever see when resuming at Werribee over 1400m. He led and went a very quick tempo in front, really running the field along at a speed that was about 12 lengths faster than average to the 600m mark. From there, he kicked even further clear under no riding and went over the line basically untouched. It was a fantastic victory which was not only visually impressive, but also backed up on times and sectionals. Second up here with the possibility for improvement, he can roll forward again and give a big sight at a price.
Warwick Farm R4 #3 Sanstoc $2.60 at PlayUp – Second up and looking for back to back victories, after putting them away nicely first up at Kensington over 1400m. She sat midfield off a strong tempo, took a split in the straight and burst through to win, running the fifth best last 200m sectional even off that hot speed that was set in front. It rated extremely well, and this talented mare is building a very nice record with the three wins from only eight starts. Drawn to get another midfield run here, and is currently two from two undefeated when second up so history says she will be peaking again.
Warwick Farm R6 #3 Headwall $2.70 at PlayUp – Unlucky not to win first up at Kensington over 1000m, this Matt Smith runner gets another chance here now second up and fitter. It was his first career defeat, and it probably shouldn’t have been seeing he was terribly held up at the top of the straight, at a crucial stage when he needed to be clear and building momentum. Flew home when clear but missed, still ran the fastest 400 and 200 metre splits of the entire meeting. Second up now and undefeated at this stage, he draws for a gun run off the inside barrier and can be rejoining the winners stall.
