Saturday selections from the PlayUp form analyst
Flemington R2 #1 See You In Heaven $3.60 at PlayUp – Second up here and set to break through again, coming off what was a very nice return to racing in Adelaide last start. Sat on speed and was just outlasted by the winner in the Listed Durbridge Stakes, but easily holding the rest including some handy types like Kemelpasa. Is a previous second up winner, and finds a very suitable race against her own sex and age which will really suit. I like the booking of Craig Williams, that signals winning intent for mine, and maps well a touch wider in the draw.
Flemington R5 #4 Annavisto $2.30 at PlayUp – First up here and looks to resume a winner, and I think is a huge chance of doing so. Only had the one start last prep and pulled up with excuses after starting favourite in the G1 Tatt’s Tiara. She is clearly a group horse, and recent jump outs say that she is flying leading into this new prep. Finds a very winnable Group 3 event, finds a solid map from barrier 7, and J Kah sticks with the ride. Should just be too classy for them here.
Flemington R7 #11 Coolangatta $5.00 at PlayUp – Keen to take on then champ Nature Strip here in this Group 1 Lightning Stakes, and side with the 3yo filly for the Maher and Eustace team. Already a winner at the top level, she comes here first up with a dynamic fresh record and has drawn perfectly on the grandstand side of the straight. She beat Everest winner Giga Kick in a recent trial, and did it easily, and only has to carry 53.5kg here which gives her a serious weight advantage. Jamie Kah rides, and has publicly stated that the horse has improved even further from last prep.
Rosehill R3 #11 Insurrection $3.60 at PlayUp – Second up here, off the back of a simply dominant first up win at Kensington over 1000m, where he led a good tempo and bolted in running the hands off the clock as they say. He has returned this prep in outstanding order, and I think can only improve now second up with more fitness on his side. Maps perfectly from barrier three, and gets in with 54kg in a very similar race it must be said to the first up one. Brett Prebble riding in great form since moving to Sydney, and the Michael Freedman team are airborne, this should be winning.
Rosehill R4 #3 King’s Gambit $2.30 at PlayUp – This looks a great price for the clear standout 2yo in this race, and I think it’s an over-reaction based off its last start defeat. It was hardly screwed down to win last start, and wasn’t helped by the slow tempo in which the leader controlled and won. It will be much more forward here, and the debut win is clearly the highest rating 2yo win anywhere this season for mine. I expect it to win here with this great second up record that Snowden horses often have, and it can go on to win the Golden Slipper after this.
