Midweek selections from the PlayUp form analyst.
Sandown R1 #9 Skywriter $2.00 at PlayUp – Second up here off a very encouraging debut run, and I’m tipping the Waller filly can go one better today. She spotted them a start at Moe on debut over 1200m, getting back off an even tempo and flying home through the line. Her last 600, 400 and 200m sectionals all indicated she is of above average ability, and now with extra distance to suit she can be winning. Finds an even midweek maiden, and will be given time to balance up and descend on this spacious Hillside track.
Sandown R2 #1 Fistsoffury $2.40 at PlayUp – Very good debut winner at Pakenham over 1200m, this Dundeel colt can win again here striking a moderate 2yo event at midweek level. He got back in running there off a very slow tempo, which made it hard for him to win but he overcame the bias to score comfortably down the outside. Ran the fastest 400-200m sectional of the entire meeting when being asked to extend, so clearly has a very sharp turn of foot. 1300m now with added fitness and experience under his belt should be very suitable, and I like the low barrier with a leading rider engaged again.
Sandown R3 #5 Arctic Fairy $5.50 at PlayUp – Very keen on this first up runner for M Ellerton to be beating the fancied favourite. Two jump outs leading into this new prep have been unbelievably strong, winning both of them by huge margins under a very tight grip. She has hardly been asked to extend at all, but running quick time and looking like she has returned in excellent order. Drawn well from barrier four and I love the booking of Blake Shinn which signals winning intent here first up.
Kensington R3 #1 Hollywood Hero $2.20 at PlayUp – Third up and ready to strike here is the Bjorn Baker runner, coming off and excellent debut and a solid second placing last time out. The debut run was massive, coming from well off the speed to fly home and be beaten under a length, with very quick sectionals relative to the meeting. Perhaps a case of second up syndrome last start, albeit not a bad run but was a beaten favourite. Respecting that odds-on SP profile, third up from barrier one and James McDonald sticks with the ride which should give us all confidence.
Kensington R4 #7 Latenighttoughguy $5.00 at PlayUp – Giving this Waller runner another chance here fourth up, coming off a very good fresh win and then two subsequently strong form races since then. The fresh win was electric, coming from off speed to score with very good sectionals. The race at Canterbury two back has subsequent winners, and form to Cotton Fingers last start looks a strong reference. Nash retains the ride here, drawn well, and gets in nicely with the 58kg.
