Racing Tips: 10th August

Midweek selections from the PlayUp form analyst.

Sandown R3 #6 Miss Balvenie $3.90 at PlayUp – A proven fresh performer who comes here first up at an attractive price. She is currently two from two undefeated at this stage of her prep, which includes a dominant Murtoa maiden win and a solid Horsham win last prep. Drawn well here, and jump outs leading in have been encouraging. I think she can furnish into a proper city class contender, and the booking of B Prebble here first up signals intent from an astute stable.

Sandown R4 #7 Duchy Of Savoy $2.20 at PlayUp – Group contender returns here to kick off what will hopefully be a fruitful Spring campaign. He has been to black type level prior, finishing less than 3L off the winner in a G3 Quezette Stakes, and running tp within 3.5L of the extremely talented Argentia in a G3 Kevin Hayes. He strikes a very winnable midweek race on his return, and has trialled and jumped out well into this including a 900m trial at Rosehill. Leading rider booked, maps well from the gate at this track to get back and swoop home.

Sandown R5 #6 The Duke Of Dubai $6.00 at PlayUp – Can’t believe the price about his runner, genuinely thought he would appear as favourite in this market. He was super at Ballarat first up on the synthetic, getting a mile out of his ground in running and somehow finishing second. Not only is that course notoriously leader biased, the leader of that race set a slow tempo in front and also won, so the shape was horribly against this horse. Second up fitter, out to 1300m, and can settle handier from the inside barrier this time around.

Kensington R1 #9 Waikiki $4.40 at PlayUp – Got sent around big odds on debut here on a heavy 10 over 1100m, but ran out of her skin to finish 2nd within a length of the winner. Second up now and sure to improve, she finds a drying track which the breeding suggests will be to her liking, and also gets an extra 200m which should definitely suit as she came from near last on debut. That swooping style pattern is perfect for this track, and she maps for a great run from the middle barrier. J McDonald getting aboard for start two is a major push.

Kensington R5 #7 Laurelin $2.50 at PlayUp – Lightly raced Godolphin performer who returns for her Spring campaign, now a 4yo and has only had the four career starts. I think she has taken some time to come to hand, but her two trials on the synthetic at Warwick Farm were extremely impressive. She was finding the line on both occasions under a huge hold, while others around her were pushed out to find the post. She is a winner here at this track over 1000m, and looks to get a perfect map from the slightly wider barrier. J McDonald on is a huge push for obvious reasons, especially when combining with this stable.
