Horse Racing Tips 24th April

Another dual G1 meeting at Randwick rounds out what has been an excellent Autumn carnival in Sydney. There is also a solid card from Caulfield, with Listed racing within the meeting. PlayUp form analysts’ selections below.

Caulfield Race 2 #1 Pride Of Jenni $3.60 at PlayUp – Exciting BM78 race here in the second, and we are siding with Prince Of Jenni who comes here second up off a very gallant minor placing when resuming. She led the field up that day, and was no match for a smart winner but boxed on very well through the line. After the post she actually regained the lead, which suggests 1600m now will be ideal. She concedes weight to a number of other runners here, but she has form at Listed and handicap level, and with a soft lead can be very well placed here.

Caulfield Race 4 #6 Marabi $2.05 at PlayUp – Very hard to look past the unbeaten mare here in Marabi, who comes to her toughest test yet over the 1100m at Caulfield in bm78 grade. Her three wins to date have been nothing short of outstanding, and a number of good judges have earmarked her as a future Group One horse. Dropping back 100m here shouldn’t be a worry, neither is the wide barrier. Jumping from the chute here, it’s a straight run to the first turn and then a straight run home, meaning you can sit wide without being at a disadvantage. Her ratings are high, she has the most upside out of these runners, and should be too good again.

Caulfield Race 5 #10 Tydeus $4.40 at PlayUp – L Smith galloper resuming here of a solid spell, and looks very well placed in this 1200m sprint. His three starts last prep were extremely encouraging, including a debut demolition job at the ‘Bool, and a comfortable 2L Bendigo win in BM64 grade. He then went to the G2 Danehill at Flemington, where he pulled up lame behind Doubtland, Prague and Personal among others. That has turned into a very strong form race, and without excuses he could’ve been right there with them. Three jump outs leading in have been exceptional, and will ensure he is fit and forward. Booking of D Oliver a cherry on top

Randwick Race 5 #5 Signore Fox $4.60 at PlayUp – See no reason to be jumping off last start winner Signore Fox here in the G3 Hall Mark Stakes. He was very impressive over the 1200m at Rosehill when resuming, putting away a smart field including Roheryn and Deprive by over 1L, and he meets them again here. He rises 2.5kg for that win, but also gains race fitness now second up, and sticks to the same trip. Drawn perfectly for McDonald in barrier two, gets a good track yet again and can definitely be making it two in a row.

Randwick Race 6 #2 Hilal $3.30 at PlayUp – Hard to go past Hilal here in the G1 Champagne, coming off a second placing behind freakishly talented Anamoe in the G1 Sires Produce last start. He went back to last from the widest barrier, and simply spotted the winner far too much of a start. He was able to loop the remainder of the field and work into second, and proved that he is looking for even more distance. Rock hard fit and out to the mile here really suits, as does the better draw which can allow him to settle closer this time around.
