Great day of midweek racing coming up from around the country, check out PlayUp’s best plays of the day below, hopefully we can help you to find a few winners!
Caulfield R3 #6 Glitzy Girl $5.50 at PlayUp – First up here from a spell, and has been primed with two very nice jump outs where she has sat wide on both occasion and not been asked to do much, yet still looked strong through the line under a hold each time. She has had one career run, that was last prep where she sat wide no cover throughout on a heavy surface at Sandown and faded in the late stages. The form out of that race has proved good, with a number of those horses now competing at Saturday level. Back on firm footing here will suit, and the drop back to 1200m will as well. Maps for a great run from barrier three with D Oliver on board, and looks over the odds.
Caulfield R4 #4 Heka Express $10.00 at PlayUp & #10 Frederick The Dane $4.60 at PlayUp – Two good bets here, starting with the value runner in Heka Express who comes here fourth up off the back of a very gallant run at Caulfield behind Hidden Legend. She was forced to sit three wide no cover on speed, and got chopped out at the 100m mark as she began to understandably fade through the line. Third place getter Ididitforlove has since won next start at Caulfield. A clear forgive run, she will be peak fit here and is suited by the drop back to 1000m. Down in grade, holds weight from last start thanks to the claim and shouldn’t be double figures. Frederick The Dane is the main danger, first up off two exceptional jump outs, and with any luck from the barrier could simply be too good for them.
Caulfield R6 #12 Disturbing $21.00 at PlayUp – Having a small play on Disturbing here, who is third up and looking to bounce back off a well below-par effort at The Valley last start. She SP’d $6 behind Malicorne and Real Feeling, who have both since run very well again in harder Saturday grade. We have to respect that SP from last start, and two runs back fresh she smashed them in an Echuca maiden running very good figures. Not sure what went wrong last start, but if she can bounce back and prove she is worthy of the $6 SP last start in a hot form race, then the huge double figures on offer here could be very enticing in what is no doubt an open race.
Caulfield R8 #2 Heart Of Puissance $4.60 at PlayUp – First up here off a lengthy spell that was caused by a rare mouth disorder that is not very common in racehorses. This horse undoubtedly has a huge amount of talent, and the Maher/Eustace camp have come out during the week and said they are confident that they have gotten to the bottom of the issue and solved it, and that the horse is back on track. In that case, he is a serious group level horse who only has to carry 61kg here in a pretty average midweek BM70. He should be fit and ready for the 1440m here first up, and has far more scope to improve than any other runner in this event. If the stable is correct in saying that the horse is back… watch out.
Warwick Farm R7 #11 Vreneli $4.40 at PlayUp – Keen on Vreneli here, who looks to lead from a low draw in typical Waterhouse/Bott fashion. Third up into his career, he was a dominant maiden winner on the Kenos track, before starting a $5.5 favourite against Private Eye, who we now know to be one of the most talented 3yo’s going around in Sydney at the moment. He was slow to move last start, and forced to work hard to get himself up outside the lead. Unsuited by the heavy track as well, he only compounded inside the last 100m and did very well to stick on as far as that. Looks to have great scope for improvement third up here and back to 1200m on firm ground.
