The lull before the storm would be a great way of describing the greyhound racing scene across the country this evening. We do have some nice racing tonight, nothing too special, but come Saturday we will be lucky enough to have a spectacular night of racing ahead of us at The Meadows, in Victoria, where no fewer than three Group 1’s will be run. What a night of racing it promises to be, the Temlee (525m), the Rookie Rebel (600m), and the Zoom Top (730m), all Group One events, and all three races to be contested by the the best greyhounds currently racing. We can hardly wait. But first we will attempt to provide our followers with some winners, from tonight’s racing across the various venues. With racing at Albion Park, Dapto, Sandown Park, Bendigo, Hobart, Angle Park, and Mandurah, we are still presented with many opportunities to find a winner.
Sandown Park Race 5 No 4 Zoha Bale $4.20 at PlayUp – This greyhound let our followers down badly last week when he failed to beat a greyhound home over the 515 metre trip from the coveted red box. But we are prepared to forgive and forget. Was a brilliant winner his only previous start this track and distance, back in November. And his run here two starts back over the 515 metres was excellent. We will give him one more chance.
Albion Park Race 4 No 1 She’s Precocious $2.60 at PlayUp – Very unlucky here last week, from this same box, when she was galloped on from behind when in the lead, resulting in her being dragged back through the field. This small field should suit her, and we think she can race near the lead again and prove too strong. She has a solid record at this track and distance.
Sandown Park Race 7 No 2 Hebridean Black $3.20 at PlayUp – Very talented, but injury plagued greyhound, who despite his rising years is still showing he has what it takes. Excellent last start fourth at The Meadows in a top class event, which followed on from a fast win at Geelong at his second run back from a long break. Loves racing at this venue, where he has recorded some fast times in winning, and excels when drawn near the rails, so box two looks ideal. This looks a nice race for him.
Dapto Race 7 No 1 Lochinvar Lona $2.45 at PlayUp – Very consistent greyhound who excels from this box, winning four of her five starts from the draw. Races well this venue. Yes it is a strong field, but from the draw we really fancy her chances of victory. The start will be crucial as it is such a short run to the first corner, so the red box is a huge advantage.
Albion Park Race 9 No 1 Come On Aussie $2.05 at PlayUp – Looks the best bet of night for us. Loves an inside draw, loves racing at this venue, racing in great form, likes this middle distance trip, and drops in class from his fourth in the Group 1 Gold Bullion final last week. Yes. Make him your banker in all your multi bets this evening.
Albion Park Race 10 No 1 Oh Minnie $2.45 at PlayUp – Resumed from a three month break from racing to win impressively here two starts back. Her last run from box eight, she experienced absolutely no luck what so ever from a wide draw. Will really appreciate the rails draw here tonight and this is a very winnable race. Very strong chance.
Hobart Race 10 No 1 Ticket To Heaven Bet Now at PlayUp – Well performed greyhound who resumed here last week, at this same distance but from box five, finishing a fast finishing second after striking interference at the first turn. Should have little trouble leading and winning tonight in the field, which is not overly strong.
