The night of nights is upon us tonight at Wentworth Park, with the main attraction being the final of the Million Dollar Chase (520m) and what a race it promises to be with a field of sensational chasers who have qualified for the event over the last month. Can the short priced favourite, She’s A Pearl, a winner of her last her last eleven starts, continue her outstanding form for trainer Jodie Lord? Or can Good Odds Cash provide her trainer, Frank Hurst, with his second Million Dollar Chase victory in four years having been successful previously with Good Odds Harada? Or can Zambitis, at just start number 7, cause a major upset and provide trainer Christos Arletos with his first win in a major event.
Here is our assessment of eight runners in the Million Dollar Chase, which is Wentworth Park Race 9 at 9:50pm.
Box 1 – Coast Model $7.00 at PlayUp – Blessed with excellent box manners and abundance of early speed. If she finds the lead she can really run good time but we believe she performs better from wide draws. Prefer others.
Box 2 – Ritza Donna $20.00 at PlayUp – Lacks early speed but she loves an inside draw. Already a Group 1 of the Dapto Megastar, and does race very well at this track. She is the dog that can cause an upset if the favourite happens to bungle the start.
Box 3 – Photo Man $26.00 at PlayUp – Only Victorian in the final, who scored impressively here last week in his semi final victory. Reliable beginner but hard to see him holding out the favourite in the run to the first turn.
Box 4 – She’s A Pearl $1.50 at PlayUp – Absolute superstar who is a near faultless beginner with exceptional early speed. Her splits to the winning post are outstanding. Hard to see her not leading, and if she leads she wins. We think she is a special.
Box 5 – Good Odds Cash $6.50 at PlayUp – Reliable beginner and hard chaser. Finished behind She’s A Pearl in all three meetings, and we can expect the same result tonight. Needed to draw inside the favourite to win. Will still run a huge race.
Race 6 – Irinka Riley $41.00 at PlayUp – Very consistent and loves this track. Surprised in semi when he won well from an unfavourable wide draw. Drawn wide again and will not have the speed to cross so will be relying on luck around first bend. He does handle himself well in a field so he is in the mix to finish in the placings.
Race 7 – Zambidis $61.00 at PlayUp – Cause a massive surprise in winning his semi final after gaining a run as a reserve. Tonight is just his seventh race start and it is hard to see him featuring in the finish. Great achievement to have even made it this far.
Box 8 – Doonan $19.00 at PlayUp – Another youngster who has faced the starter just ten times to date. Impressive in his semi final win when he chased with great tenacity. Difficult box to win from but he is a place chance. Selections: 4-2-5-6.
Wentworth Park Race 2 No 1 Our Boy Duke $2.30 at PlayUp – Excellent debut winner in his heat from this same draw. Looks to have enough pace to lead again. Being a front early is a huge advantage in Maiden finals.
Wentworth Park Race 4 No 1 Mckeon Bale $3.10 at PlayUp – Victorian who was impressive in her heat win last week, her first start at this track. Loves an inside draw and looks a likely leader from the draw in this. Yes.
Wentworth Park Race 5 No 3 Quinlan Bale $3.50 at PlayUp – Kennel mate to Mckeon Bale, who was a very strong winner in his heat last week, which was also his first look at Wentworth Park. Loves the rails so needs to avoid trouble in his attempts to find the fence Hard chaser.
Wentworth Park Race 6 No 1 Fire Legend $4.80 at PlayUp – Former top liner who has performed very well at group level previously. Will appreciate this inside draw as it should allow him to set up a winnable lead down the back. Will tire late but should have a big break prior.
Wentworth Park Race 7 No 6 Super Estrella $2.40 at PlayUp – We see her as the leader and that will be the key here. Her main danger, Zipping Kansas, is traditionally a slow beginner so we think he will be chasing from the beginning. Super Estrella deserves a big win, very consistent performer.
Wentworth Park Race 8 No 2 Fernando Hunter $2.80 at PlayUp – Slow beginner who loves racing at this venue. Relies on luck but the inside draw should be of assistance here. We think he is the best bet of the night and your banker for all your multi bets.
Happy punting!
