The racing continues to heat up in not only for the gallops but also for the greyhounds as we head towards some fantastic group racing in Victoria during November. Commencing next Saturday night at The Meadows, we will witness the running of three Group 1 events, all on the one night. These races, the Top Gun Sprint (525m), Hume Cup (600m) and Top Gun Stayers (730m), will form part of an outstanding night of racing we have doubt, judging by the quality of the fields selected this week for the two Top Gun races, which are both invitational event. The field for the Hume Cup final will be determined on Monday night when six very strong heats will be run. Following on from next Saturday night at The Meadows, the action will move to Sandown Park, beginning with the Shootout (515m) on November 12, then the Melbourne Cup (515m) and the Bold Trease (715m), with both finals to be held on Saturday November 26. All this in the month of November.
We enjoyed a very profitable night on Thursday, thanks to our best bet saluting, together with two other very nice priced winners. Let us hope our form continues tonight.
Wentworth Park Race 2 No 1 Chinese Tonight $2.10 at PlayUp – Smashed at box rise here last start when finishing fourth in a similar event. This followed two very strong wins at Bathurst and Dubbo. Will have benefitted greatly from the run last week and from this box we are expecting a significant improvement. Looks the standout bet of the night so make him your banker in all your multi bets.
Wentworth Park Race 5 No 7 Simply Limelight $3.20 at PlayUp – Resumed here last week when he finished a very close up fourth after enjoying no favours at all in the run. With any luck, he would have won. Was considered the best sprinter in NSW before his short break from racing. Does like to find the rail in his races so the box draw is not perfect but he does have the early speed to overcome it. Once in front he can run some serious times.
Dubbo Race 7 No 2 Stinger Casey $2.20 at PlayUp – Loves this track and distance as evidenced by his seven wins and six placings from thirteen starts. Resumes tonight from a three month break from racing. Very reliable beginner and does appreciate a inside draw. Looks very well graded in this field as it does lack a lot of depth.
Wentworth Park Race 7 No 4 Zipping Novak $2.10 at PlayUp – This greyhound has one of the biggest motors going around. Outstanding in winning here two starts back in a flying 29.59, before having no luck here last week when finishing third after being forced very wide at the first corner before rushing home late. That field was much stronger than tonight’s. The middle draw is a reason for concern but this dogs does have lengths on his rivals.
Bendigo Race 10 No 6 Idolize $1.90 at PlayUp – The winner of sixteen races and almost $250,000 in stake money, a proven group performer, and here we find her in a low grade mixed race at Bendigo, with an empty box on her immediate inside. Yes she may not be racing in the same form she was six months back, but she is still racing well enough to win this race. Very reliable beginner who should lead throughout in this event. Hard to see her being beaten.
Geelong Race 10 No 3 Mr Beets $1.85 at PlayUp – Resuming tonight from a short break but showed enormous promise at his only two starts prior to the break. Flying winner at Warrnambool at his race track debut before having little luck at his next start at the same track. Very well bred dog and in a kennel that has a fantastic winning strike rate. Should have little trouble leading throughout in this event.
