We hope you were on our selections on Thursday as the three winners provided would have certainly provided you with some money to spend on gifts for your loved ones, and to splurge on yourself. Hopefully our recent good form can continue tonight.
The last Group 1 race of the calendar year will be held tonight at Sale with the running of the $75,000 to the winning connections Sale Cup, which will be run over the 650-metre course. And what a wonderful will face the starter and what an intriguing race it promises to be. Much interest remains around enigmatic galloper Zac’s Entity, from the Greenough kennel. He is so talented, having both speed and strength, but he has been having trouble fully focusing on the task of chasing the lure. Slowly into stride in his heat last week, Zac’s Entity worked his way through the field very cleverly to grab a last stride victory. Most observers believe he was star gazing in the run to the line, but stewards did not have an issue with his racing manners, so he is free to compete in the final. Should the real Zac’s Entity turn up and run to his best, he is the dog to beat. However, we are happy to risk him, and will select the Mark Delbridge trained Jarick Bale, who has drawn ok in Box 8. Capable of taking up a forward position, Jarick Bale hit the line when winning his heat in 37.13, which proved to be the fastest of the four heat winners.
Another interesting event on the program will be race 4, the Cup Night Match Race, again over the 650-metre course, which will see Graclyn Bale and Gypsy Wyong do battle. Both highly talented and both capable of running in and around track record time, we have settled on Gypsy Wyong as our on top selection. A winner of almost $300,000 in stake money, the Andrea Dailly trained star looked a little strange to the track in her heat last week, so she should have derived greatly from the experience, and we expect her to be too good.
With racing also to be held at Sandown Park, Wentworth Park, Albion Park, Gawler and Grafton, punters will have many punting options available to them tonight so let us attempt to steer you all in to a few winners.
Wentworth Park Race 2 No 1 Connections $1.55 at PlayUp
Only been defeated the once in nine race starts, this fellow was huge here last start when winning by six lengths in fast time from box 2. The inside draw tonight will do him no harm, so we believe he should be easily in this race.
Albion Park Race 4 No 8 Travis’s Lauryn $2.25 at PlayUp
Had first career start last week in the heat of this event, and she exploded from the boxes to win by 7 lengths in fast time. If she can begin in the same manner from the wider draw tonight, she should be winning again. Looks a very promising type and will win plenty of races.
Sale Race 5 No 8 Aston Tarrant $4.80 at PlayUp
Three wins for just his four race starts, he was all at sea on the track last week, before scoring in his heat, in what looked a lucky win in the end when the leaders eased him. But he found lots of trouble in the early stages of the race, and he should improve a lot from the track experience.
Gawler Race 10 No 8 Agent Swan $2.40 at PlayUp
Enigmatic galloper who does not always show up in the right mood. Highly talented and can record fast times when she so desires. Looks very well drawn in the wide box, and the small field also suits. If she begins on the terms with the field, she has the speed to lead and win.
Sale Race 10 No 1 Jenny Kay Rose $4.60 at PlayUp
Strong all the way winner, at this track and distance, last start from box 5. This breed loves an inside box draw so she looks ideally drawn here in box 1. This field is not strong and she looks the best bet of the night for us, so make sure she is your banker in your multi best tonight.
