Greyhound Tips: 19th January

Greyhound racing action continues tonight across the country, with things really hotting up in Queensland at Albion Park as their summer of racing carnival gets in to full swing with the running of the final of the Match Races Golden Ticket (520m), with the winning greyhound automatically becoming a finalist in the Group 1 Gold Bullion (520m) in a two weeks time. With the connections of the winning greyhound of the Gold Bullion to receive $500,000, the final tonight is indeed significant, and we think we have identified a nice each way chance at big odds for our followers. The full program tonight at Albion Park is packed with significant interest, especially the open events over 520 metres and 720 metres, both quality fields with a number of greyhounds who will figure prominently in the coming weeks in the major group races.

The final of the John Gray Memorial, for Grade 5 greyhounds, is the main event at Angle Park in South Australia tonight, with an extremely even field of greyhounds to face the starter. At Warrnambool in Victoria, the finals of two relatively new events that are growing significantly in status on the greyhound calendar will be run, the Warrnambool Oaks (450m) and the Warrnambool Derby (450m). The depth of both these finals is outstanding for a country venue and we have no doubt both races will continue to attract the attention of participants in the years ahead. Dapto, Sandown Park, Hobart and Mandurah are other venues racing tonight where punters will be seeking to find a winner to build a bank ahead of the wonderful night of racing that will take place on Saturday at Wentworth Park, featuring two Group 1 finals.

Sandown Park Race 2 No 7 Zara Marnie $2.00 at PlayUp – Hailed a potential superstar after her first two starts where she won at Sale, both by huge margins and in freakish times. Her bubble was burst last start at Warragul when she only managed to finish fourth in a moderate field, but she did experience plenty of interference in the run. This race looks very winnable and we like her drawn wide where she can balance up early allowing her to show her real speed. Best bet of the night from us.

Dapto Race 5 No 7 Zipping Swarzi $2.80 at PlayUp – Excellent win in maiden class last week, at her third race track appearance, showing nice improvement. Her time was good for that class and we expect her to be able to lead and win again tonight. Good prospect going forward.

Albion Park Race 7 No 6 Hello Mike $2.70 at PlayUp – We think this dog will prove himself to be then best dog in Queensland in the coming months. Capable of running super times with a clear passage. Does like to get down to the rails but we think he has the speed to do so tonight despite the awkward draw. Yes.

Sandown Park Race 9 No 3 Collinda Chips $4.20 at PlayUp – Last chance, or have we said that previously. So much ability but keeps finding trouble, or one better. We think this field is the weakest he has met for a long time so he really gets his chance to notch up a win for our followers. Have faith followers.

Albion Park Race 8 No 8 Days Of Thunder $3.30 at PlayUp – Very string stayer who tends to drop out early in her races and then storms home. The wide draw will allow her to balance up early without interference we believe. Loves this venue having already won eleven times over this distance. Great win last start and can repeat that effort tonight.

Albion Park Race 9 No 2 Yahiro Bale $18.00 at PlayUp – Loves the inside and has taken to this track well. Nice run in her heat after completely bombing the start. Better suited to a full field as she does have very good race sense. Very generous odds on offer, especially for the place but also on an each way basis.
