Greyhound Tips: 16th December

WE may still be more than 48 hours away from the inaugural running of The Phoenix at The Meadows, but the excitement has certainly gained significant momentum over the last few days. What a race it promises to be and on Saturday we will provide punters with our assessment on each of the eight runners that will contest the event.

But let us not forget tonight, which itself promises to be an outstanding night of greyhound racing. Down in Tasmania we will see the running of the oldest race on the Australian Greyhound Calendar, the Hobart 1000. This is a race that has been contested by many champions over the years, producing many memorable finals, and tonight promises not to disappoint. What a super field it is, and a field where it is very difficult to determine the winner. In the end we have elected to select the David Geall trained Ferdinand Boy, based mainly on his box draw in the 8 box. Possessed with great box manners, the wide draw may just allow him to clear his opposition in the run to the first bend, and if he can manage that, he should salute. Locally trained Sacred Stance appears the main danger.
And let us not forget that at Sandown Park, the final of the Group 2 Sandown Laurels will be run, and again it is a very even field that has qualified for the event. However we do think the Kayla Cottrell trained speedster, Devine Express, is drawn to lead and win. Look out for Gypsy Toowoomba to run a huge race at massive odds, she is well worth have something on at the odds available.
Then over at Angle Park in Adelaide, a wonderful program has been drawn, where we will see heats of The Inferno (520m), The Ashes (520m), and The Flame (595m), all for SA bred dogs, plus a very interesting four dog FFA field over the 730 metre trip. It certainly looks like being a great night of racing. Now let us see if we can see the punters into a few winners, to help pay for the Christmas festivities.
Sandown Park Race 1 No 2 Soda Success $2.40 at PlayUp
Raced very well at this track during the recent maiden series, finishing third to the flying She’s Refined in the final. Followed up with a nice third at The Meadows on Saturday after finding some early trouble. Looks well drawn and placed in this event and should prove too strong.
Albion Park Race 5 No 2 Merchant Navy $6.00 at PlayUp
Resuming from a four month break from racing but in the hands of beetle ran trainer Tony Zammit, so expected to be fit and ready to win. Performs best from inside draws so well suited here. Can run fast times when on the lure. This is a very winnable races.
Dapto Race 5 No 1 Zipping Sapporo $2.70 at PlayUp
We are hoot to take on the favourite in this. Sapporo has a strong record from box one, and she can look to take advantage of it again here. Very good chaser and will rail hard. At the odds we believe she is better value in this than the red.
Albion Park Race 7 No 1 Just A Sort $1.80 at PlayUp
After two very fast wins at this track, he went to Ipswich for his last run and again won in fast time. Looks to have a real future and this event may be his launching pad. In the strong Tony Brett kennel. He looks the best bet of the night for us, your banker in your multi bets.
Albion Park Race 9 No 4 Cash View $2.05 at PlayUp
Has one of the biggest motors racing anywhere. Likes to scout wide. Loves this track. We really appreciate the step up to the 600 metre trip, as he has been flying home over the shorter trips. Just a real star. Yes.

THINK. IS THIS A BET YOU REALLY WANT TO PLACE?
