Greyhound Tips: 11th February

The night of greyhound racing ahead of us this evening, at The Meadows, is simply outstanding, three Group 1 races, over different distances, all on the same program. The Temlee (525m), the Rookie Rebel (600m), and the Zoom Top (730m) are invitational one off races, named in honour of three outstanding greyhounds from the past. The quality of the three races tonight are, arguably, the highest since the inception of the races. In the Temlee we have the two highest stake earners in the long history of greyhound racing in the world, clashing for the third time, namely Wow She’s Fast ($2.26m) and She’s A Pearl ($1.62m). And let us not forget there is a third millionaire in the race, McInerney ($1.27m), together with two further greyhounds sitting around the half million dollar figure in career earnings. Amazing. In the Rookie Rebel, the only greyhound exceeding half a million in earnings, is Jarick Bale (5.51k), whilst in the Zoom Top, it is just Mepunga Ruby ($5.60k). What we should not forget to mention is how strong the support races are at The Meadows tonight also, with five Australian Cup Preliminary (525m) events to be conducted, as a lead in to next weeks heats of the Group 1 Australian Cup.

Elsewhere tonight we have racing at Ipswich, Wentworth Park, Dubbo, The Gardens, Geelong and Cannington, so numerous opportunities for punters to locate a winner. Reflecting on our selections last Thursday, disappointingly we only secured the one winner from our six runners, but we were so close with all other selections, and with an ounce of luck in the run, it could easily have been six winners. It certainly helps keeps our confidence in place knowing that the selections and information we are providing to our followers is acceptable and beneficial.

The Meadows (Zoom Top) Race 6 No 2 Moraine Suzie $4.60 at PlayUp – Sparingly raced in recent months but has still retained top form. Loves this track and distance, winning three of her four starts, all in top class company. She can get back in her races but she is powerful in the second half of her races. Wonderful win last start here and she can easily repeat that effort tonight. Selections: 2-7-3-1

The Meadows (Rookie Rebel) Race 8 No 7 Dookie Devil $6.50 at PlayUp – Has not raced since Boxing Day when he finished second in the Group 1 Sale Cup (650m), after winning his previous three starts in flying times. Loves this track and distance, winning three from five in fast times. Loves being drawn wide and we think he can carve over and be on the pace a lap out. Strong dog. Selections: 7-4-8-3

The Meadows (Temlee) Race 10 No 3 Amron Boy $3.70 at PlayUp – His last two runs were disappointing by his standards, but they were at Wentworth Park, a track he hasn’t taken to. Unlike The Meadows, which is excels at, winning seven races here and all in flying times. Loves being drawn close to the rails and if he can find it early and have a clear run, he is the strongest dog in the field, we have no doubt. But it is a very tough race. Selections: 3-2-4-1

Wentworth Park Race 8 No 2 Okeechobee Road $4.00 at PlayUp – Lightly raced but showing good ability so far. Nice win at this track from a rails draw recently and then last start, he was badly checked at box rise and again at the first corner before running on well for third. Has the speed to ouch through and lead in this and that will make him very hard to beat.

The Meadows Race 7 No 7 Quick Smart $5.50 at PlayUp – Super talent but does need some luck as he is desperate for the rails and is awkward in a field. But the map in this race, leads us to believe that he can secure the run he needs to prove to strong late and grab victory. Very attractive each way odds available.

Dubbo Race 7 No 4 Roger The Dodger $2.30 at PlayUp – Looks a highly promising type with a nice future. Recently resumed from a three month break with an excellent victory at this track over the 318 metre trip. Even better suited at this distance range. Only has to avoid trouble to salute.

The Meadows Race 11 No 2 Boo Boo Billy $1.85 at PlayUp – Returning to Victoria after a successful interstate campaign where he made the final of the Group 1 Gold Bullion (520m) at Albion Park recently. This is a significant drop in class from that race and he should have little trouble finding the lead early and winning. Looks the best bet of the night anywhere, so make him your banker in your multi bets tonight.
