Saturday selections from the PlayUp form analyst, huge day of G1 racing in both Sydney and Melbourne.
Sandown R2 #3 Shuffle Dancer $3.60 at PlayUp – Keen on the P Moody runner here, who is fifth up and ready to take her chance at Group level for the first time. She overcame adversity to win with her head on her chest at The Valley last start, and prior went very close behind the in-form Wrote To Arataki at Flemington. Probably could’ve won that race too, after getting well back in running off the slow tempo and running a meeting fastest last 200m through the line. She possesses a great turn of foot, and should appreciate the wider draw here.
Sandown R7 #4 Little Brose $11.00 at PlayUp – Very keen on the Hayes runner at a price in this G1 Blue Diamond, coming off an excellent return in the Prelude behind Barber. He got back in running and flew home, but spotted the leader too far in the end and was only beaten under half a length. Second up and out to 1200m will be ideal, and he will really appreciate the hot tempo expected here. Blinkers go on, and his second up win last prep in the Merson Cooper was dynamic and he put a good margin on them. Looks a completely forgotten horse here at double figures, but is coming through the right form lines.
Sandown R9 #13 I Am Me $6.00 at PlayUp – Have to stick with the fit and forward runner here in the G1 Oakleigh Plate, searching for four wins on the bounce this very talented I Am Invincible mare. She won at Listed level in Sydney last start, and won convincingly beating the talented Spaceboy over the 1200m. Freshened since then, and the drop back to 1100m therefore should be suitable off the break between runs. Gets a big booking of Jamie Kah, can hold a position from barrier one maybe getting a suck run in behind the leaders, and with even luck should be right in the finish.
Randwick R6 #9 Portorosa $31.00 at PlayUp – Want to have something small each way on this Neasham runner, who I thought was very good in an unsuitable Listed Lonhro Plate on debut. She sat near last in the small field who went a very slow tempo, but she ran great figures through the line and was working extremely well past the post. With fitness and experience under her belt, I think the step now to 1200m looks ideal. Her dam was a winner over as much as a mile, so extra trip here is needed, and she can hold a more forward position from barrier one today as well. Tough race, but she deserves an each-way ticket.
Randwick R8 #12 Hinged $11.00 at PlayUp – Thought this looks a great each way bet, knowing that this Waller mare will be up on speed the entire way and is very tough to get past. She was comfortably held by Anamoe last start when resuming in the G2 Apollo, but she led a good clip and did take beating off when push came to shove. From the low draw, she will sit right up on speed again, and has an excellent second up record that reads 4:3-0-1. I think she can peak in this race, and if she sets an even enough clip in front she could be able to steal it.
