Racing Tips: 5th November

Last day of the Melbourne Cup Carnival from Flemington, and its Champions Day with an unreal three G1’s to get through. Check out the PlayUp form analyst selections below.

Flemington R1 #14 French Emperor $4.60 at PlayUp – Racing extremely well of late, including back to back wins over this distance range by some good margins as well. He was sectionally very impressive at Mornington two runs ago, and then put a quality field at Geelong to the sword last start in a competitive BM70. Rides to black-type level here, but does not look out of place and only carries 54kg for his first attempt at it. He looks extremely well weighted here, and coming back to the mile is no disadvantage.

Flemington R3 #12 Street Gossip $10.00 at PlayUp – This looks a very competitive race, so i’m siding for something at good value here. Street Gossip was a very impressive debut winner in Sydney, coming from a long last in the field to score with some great sectionals through the line. It was a visually impressive win as much as it also stacked up on the clock, and she looks to possess a bit of ability. Second up here, and should only be much improved for that win. Drawn well in barrier four to sit closer, and at the double figure price she looks an each way play.

Flemington R6 #1 Nature Strip $1.90 at PlayUp – Extremely confident that the worlds best sprinter will be bouncing back into form here, after having his colours lowered just a touch in the Everest. It was far from a bad run though, he sat wide on speed absorbing some very fast sectionals, and was only beaten in the last few strides after looking the winner at the 150m mark. His third up record is exceptional, a previous G1 winner at this stage, and he has already won this G1 sprint twice by a combined margin of 6.5L. He thrives in this race, J McDonald is riding in outstanding form this carnival, and he looks well placed out wide down the straight.

Rosehill R4 #7 Naval Seal $2.80 at PlayUp – This horse put the writing on the wall for a second up win off the back of an impressive first up effort at Randwick over the mile last start, After sitting handy, he went toe to toe with the winner but was just no match late in the piece. Second up now, fitter, out to 1800m suits and he is one for one undefeated so far at this track and distance. He probably strikes the most winnable race he has seen for a while, dropping in class while not really being affected by a weights penalty.

Rosehill R8 #7 Uncle Bryn $8.50 at PlayUp – He has been hard to catch so far this horse, and you might be forgiven for thinking he was out of form prior to his last start win. But the Sale Cup victory over the mile was extremely impressive, and I think he has found his mojo at the right time. He came from last on the bend there to win by 2.5L with his head on his chest, an extraordinary win to the eye and it was backed up with time on the clock as well. Finds a wider draw here which should suit his racing pattern, and with a strong tempo expected he can be unleashing his turn of foot late. Looks a great bet in the near double figure range.
