Racing Tips: 5th October

Midweek selections from the PlayUp form analyst.

Sale R5 #7 Dangers $5.00 at PlayUp – Racing extremely consistency around this track of late, including consecutive 2nd placings over the 1400m and 1600m, and then had some excuses last start when a beaten favourite here over the mile. Finally getting some extra distance under his belt today and looks well drawn for a midfield run from that barrier. The soft 5 conditions play into his favour as well, as his only career win did come on a rain affected surface.

Sale R7 #7 Queen Of The Green $7.00 at PlayUp – Thought this mare might be the one with the most upside in this race, and with the other chances either first up off a long lay off, or already having exposed form on the board, she interests me the most especially at the price. She was a dominant Geelong maiden winner last start on debut, putting them away nicely by over a length. Second up here and fitter, and definitely has the scope for more improvement now taking on benchmark horses. Maps well, handles the wet going, and should be a genuine chance.

Sale R8 #6 Barretta $3.50 at PlayUp – Interesting horse resuming here, who I really fancied last prep off a first up victory but then he just fell a touch short of the level I expected him to reach. His first up win last prep was dynamic, coming from off the speed on a night where it was extremely hard to make ground and winning with a meeting fastest last 200m split. He then SP’d fav behind Uncle Bryn here at Sale which is a good form line, and ran ok in a strong Flemington race. Starts the new prep here today and clearly runs well first up, his Benalla trial win looked strong and I expect him to fire fresh here.

Canterbury R4 #7 Game Theory $6.00 at PlayUp – Very keen to this this Snowden runner resume, coming off the back of a good last prep where he won two on the bounce at one stage, and ran behind Cross Talk here at Canterbury who has since gone on to be a Listed competitor. One trial leading into this prep, and he won it very convincingly at Rosehill over the 900m. He has great wet track form, having won on both soft and heavy and been placed multiple times as well. Looks to get the right run here from barrier three close to the speed, and the booking of K McEvoy who also trialled him is a good sign.

Canterbury R7 #6 Hoover Lucy $2.80 at PlayUp – Siding with the runner who is bringing in genuine Saturday form to this midweek race, after running 7th at Randwick in a strong Mares BM78 last start over 1100m. The winner of that race Sneaky Paige is a genuine Saturday runner, as are Jal Lei who ran second and Duchy Of Savoy who ran fourth. Second up now for Hoover Lucy, and she is twice second placed at this stage of her prep from only two attempts, and the same stat applies for her record over this distance. She seems to handle the wet going, and the booking of J McDonald is a serious push that this horse is here to win.
