Greyhound Tips: 1st October

On Thursday we had the running of five heats of the Group 1 Adelaide Cup (530m) at Angle Park, with an outstanding performance that have sparked the interest of punters into thinking that the already qualified superstar, Wow She’s Fast, can be defeated in the final. The win by the South Australian trained Mallee Magic was stunning, leading all the way after a fast beginning, clearly recording the fastest heat time of 30.12. There is no doubt he will have the crowd on his side in the final, as he is raced by now retired legendary SA trainer Cameron Butcher, and trained by SA’s current leading trainer Tony Rasmussen. The box draw, conducted on track following the final heat, has done Mallee Magic no harm either, coming up with the coveted red box whilst Wow She’s Fast drew the dreaded five alley. We all know box draws make a massive difference in major races and the task of winning from the middle draw is almost impossible, but let us not forget, she is a champion, and champions can do things other dogs simply cannot do. We will have a full preview of the Cup next Friday for our followers.

Last night at The Gardens, five heats of the Group 2 Black Top (515m) were run, and again some outstanding performances were forthcoming. The time standard was set in the opening heat when the John Finn trained speedster Gatlin, shaved just one one length off the previous track record when he went 29.09 in defeating Zipping Maserati. However this record was to stand for only a very short time, as in heat four, the brilliant French Martini came out and became the first greyhound ever to break the 29 seconds mark at The Gardens, when she recorded, an almost unbelievable, 28.96 in winning by eight lengths. This was a stunning performance and on that effort alone, she will take a power of beating in the final. Over in the west at Mandurah, four heats of the Group 2 Mandurah Cup (490m) were contested, with all the stars being successful in their heats to ensure that the final next week will be a hot contest. Fastest heat winner was the Shayne Williams trained Unsee This, who took the final heat in flying 27.25, coming with a withering run around the home bend. Other heat winners were Amplified (27.32), Vice Grip (27.36) and Momentum (27.61). The box draw for this event will be so important for all finalists.

Following our successful night on Thursday, we are hoping the trend can continue to tonight. This think we have identified come nice winners for our followers.

Wentworth Park Race 3 No 2 Embrace $3.60 at PlayUp – Produced a couple of outstanding performances during the recent Million Dollar Chase series, including a fast finishing second to the eventual winner in a semi final. A repeat of that run would see her winning this event with ease. This race is a significant drop in class. We think she is the best bet of the night and we suggest making her your banker in all your multi bets.

Wentworth Park Race 5 No 4 Punter’s Bandit $2.40 at PlayUp – Huge effort here last week when winning the consolation of the Young Star Classic, when she came flying home after being knocked back through the field at the first bend. She is generally a good beginner, so don’t be surprised if she is in the leading division throughout toning. Strong as an ox. Big future ahead is predicted.

The Meadows Race 5 No 1 Nitro Bale $3.60 at PlayUp – Racing in very good form and does have an excellent record from inside draws. Strong winner at Sandown recently from box two, when he railed superbly throughout to score. Has nice speed so can lead all the way in this.

The Meadows Race 6 No 4 Untapped $4.40 at PlayUp – Star stayer who has had two runs back from a spell, with. Both performances being eye catching after she missed the start on both occasions, not her normal trait as she is generally a fast breaker. She hit the line hard last week in her heat and we are expecting her to come out humming tonight and lead all the way. She is a proven group performer.

The Meadows Race 8 No 7 Tobin Frost $10.00 at PlayUp – Outstanding winner here last week over the 525 metre trip, when he stormed home after his normal slow beginning. Stepping back up to the 600m tonight is ideal. From his wide draw expect him to drop over the rails behind the pack in the run to the first turn, and then use his railing ability to make ground. Always in the money and at the price, he is a great each way chance.
