Greyhound Tips: 22nd September

As the build up continues towards the final of the 2022 Million Dollar Chase, which will be run on Saturday night at Wentworth Park, we must not forget that the build up to the Group 1 Adelaide Cup (530m) is also gaining momentum. Tonight, at Angle Park, the Match Race Challenge is to be held, with the running of four, two dog, match races featuring four South Australian trained greyhounds clashing with four interstate trained greyhounds, with the overall winner, by way of fastest time, winning a place in the Adelaide Cup final without being required to compete in the heats next week. The favourite for the event, and the greyhound where so much attention is focused upon, is the Kelvyn Greenough trained Wow She’s Fast. Making her first official race track appearance since her win in the Group 1 Maturity Stakes Classic (525m), which was run at The Meadows back in July, Wow She’s Fast did trial between racing at Angle Park last Thursday night in a very quick 30.18, less than 4 lengths outside the track record held by Aston Rupee. Given the length of time since her last race, we can expect some improvement on that time tonight, and if the conditions are fine, she may give the track record a real nudge. We believe her main danger tonight will come in the form of fellow Victorian, Amron Boy, trained by Brooke and Jamie Ennis. On the lure, he is a seriously fast greyhound, having already recorded near track record times at The Meadows, Wentworth Park and Sandown Park. He will be ideally suited to the match racing concept of this series tonight, as he is prone to finding trouble in the run when contesting full fields. At the odds on offer, he is well worth an interest on an each way basis, as he is so capable of producing an amazing time and thus, defeat the favourite.

Elsewhere across the country this evening, we have racing at Sandown Park, Warrnambool, Albion Park, Nowra, Hobart and Mandurah, with all venues appearing to have nice quality fields on offer. We really think we have identified come nice winners for our followers tonight, some at nice odds to help build the kitty leading into the weekend.

Sandown Park Race 1 No 4 Aston Kalkara $2.00 at PlayUp – Made his metropolitan debut here last week, running a very good second in fast time, after finding some trouble in the early stages of the event. This came on the back of a couple of fast wins on provincial tracks. Despite the middle draw tonight, we think he looks the winner, given natural improvement from his run last week. Yes.

Albion Park Race 6 No 2 Sunburst $3.40 at PlayUp – Very consistent galloper who loves racing at this track, winning five races here to date. Flying win last start at Ipswich, in a strong field. Inside draw suits. Quality galloper from a strong kennel. This race does look very suitable.

Nowra Race 7 No 1 Silver Luck $1.60 at PlayUp – Massive drop in class from his latest run, when he finished unplaced in a heat of the Group 2 Sydney Cup (720m), after having recorded at nice win at that same venue the start prior. Two starts at this track for two wins and loves an inside draw. Looks a good think. Yes he is short, but he does look the winner. I

Sandown Park Race 9 No 1 Ambushed $2.60 at PlayUp – Super run here last Sunday when a nice second to the very talented Kysaiah, in fast time, taking ground off the winner in the closing stages. Loves an inside draw and this race does lack some depth. He looks a special, and we think he is the best best of the night anywhere, so make him your banker in your multi bets.

Sandown Park Race 11 No 1 Spartan Legend $3.40 at PlayUp – No luck at his only previous metropolitan start, but he is a dog of promising ability having won 3 races on the provincial circuit, all in nice times. Will simply love the inside draw, and he does have the speed to hold the lead, and if he can do that, he should salute for our followers.

Angle Park Race 10 No 8 Strategise $3.90 at PlayUp – Two runs back from a three month spell have been solid and he will strip a lot fitter for those runs. Has performed well from wide draws in the past and the small field does help his chances. This field is not strong. Yes.
