A massive night of greyhound racing awaits us this evening, especially at Wentworth Park where it will be the last chance for greyhounds to qualify for the 2022 Million Dollar Chase semi-finals which will be run on Friday night. Five City Qualifiers will be contested this evening and the quality of these five fields is simply outstanding. We will attempt to find the five winners for our followers.
Elsewhere this evening we have the running of the Group 3 Video Cup (730m) final at The Meadows in Victoria, plus the final of the Spring Gift (520m) at Cannington in West Australia, which is a listed event. Both these finals are strong, even races with a number of chances. Again we will be providing our thoughts for our followers. Then tomorrow at Healesville, the final of the Group 3 Healesville Cup (350m) will be run, with a super field of straight track sprinters to face the starter. What an open race it lit looks on paper, however we are very keen on the red runner, Quinlan Bale. His recent straight track form has been outstanding, and he does look like he should be ideally suited out of the red box. Early markets have him at nice each way odds.
Wentworth Park Race 5 No 2 Zippy Tesla $2.60 at PlayUp – Has been racing in career best form in Victoria in recent weeks, recording scintillating times on both Melbourne city tracks. Has raced well at this venue in the past but without winning. We think he can change that tonight and expect him to get the money. Has nice speed once he hits the ground and is also a very smart greyhound in a field with the ability to come from behind and win.
Wentworth Park Race 6 No 6 Mcinerney $7.50 at PlayUp – Outstanding effort recently in the final of the National Sprint Championship at this venue, when finishing a close up 3rd, only beaten narrowly. Tasmanian greyhound but has raced and win at the highest level in Victoria over the last three months. Suited by the wide draw.
Wentworth Park Race 7 No 5 Orchestrate $2.00 at PlayUp – Star Queensland sprinter in the very strong Tony Brett kennel. First start at this venue. Has not raced for six weeks but no doubt would have been well schooled here during that break. Reliable beginner with excellent speed once he balances up and is also strong at the end of his races. He is already a proven Group performer in his own state but against the best dogs in the country.
Wentworth Park Race 8 No 4 She’s A Pearl $1.40 at PlayUp – Best sprinter in New South Wales when at her top. Resumed recently from a three month spell for a nice win at Goulburn but then suffered shock defeat at her next start at same track. Said to be working well at home. Trying to win back to back Million Dollar Chases, and for the sake of the series let us hope she qualifies tonight. Star greyhound.
Wentworth Park Race 9 No 8 Amron Boy $2.30 at PlayUp – This dog is a very fast animal. Some of his recent wins have been in near track record times in Victoria. Trialled here recently in very quick fashion. The wide draw is not ideal, but he has the speed and the class to overcome the tough draw. Very strong chaser with a great determination to win. Member of a very strong Victorian kennel. He is our selection to win the overall final.
The Meadows Race 8 No 4 Gypsy Wyong $3.80 at PlayUp – Returned to her best last week when a convincing heat winner. She has won three Group 1 events so that show how classy she is. This final is even but she does look a standout to us, if she can perform at her best again. Attractive odds for a dog of her class.
Cannington Race 5 No 8 Vice Grip $4.60 at PlayUp – Approaching veteran status but still racing well. Outstanding run last week in his heat when he was held up on a couple of occasions. We think he is well suited by the wide draw tonight. Rated best bet of the night, and your banker for all your multi bets tonight. Yes.
