Racing tips: 13th August

Great day of black-type racing all across the country, take a look at the PlayUp form analyst selections below.

Caulfield:

R3 #7 Throntari $5.50 @ PlayUpNot exactly sure why this runner has been a touch overlooked by the market, coming off what was a sensational last start win here over 1200m. She sat back off a hot speed, blended in on the turn and let down with a sizzling turn of foot to score by 2.5L. Her overall recorded time was 6L quicker than average for that class, and she clearly looks the horse with the most upside in this event. If she is able to repeat anything similar to last start, which I believe she can given a similar map and rider booking, as well as only 54kg on her back, she should be winning.

R5 #5 Alpha One $3 @ PlayUpThis is a ripping edition of the G3 Vain Stakes, with a number of potential G1 horses set to do battle. I like Alpha One to make it four wins on the bounce, after belting his opposition in all three starts so far this prep. His last start win at The Valley was backed up on the clock after being super impressive to the eye, running a meeting fastest last 200m after leading, and recording a last 400m that was 6L quicker than 2yo class average. G3 level looks comfortably within his realms, and with the rail out 9m today he should lead, kick, and win.

R9 #16 El Rocko $4.20 @ PlayUpSuper impressed with the way this galloper has won both his starts this prep, by some huge margins as well. He put them away by 7L in a Ballarat maiden two starts back, and then romped home by close to 4L in a competitive BM70 at Sandown last time. That field wasn’t full of slouches either, with Danaustar a proven winner running second. Third up here, peak fit, and will carry only 54kg due to the rise in grade. But I think he strikes a very even and winnable affair, and should appreciate the deteriorating ground.

Rosehill:

R5 #5 Frumos $2.00 @ PlayUpG1 winner in waiting this horse, who has been electric in winning all her four starts to date. The team has obviously taken their time with her, now racing as a 4yo to start this season. Her last win here at this track and distance was ultra impressive, running the fourth quickest last 200m split of the day under basically no urgings at all, as she already had the race sewn up. She sticks to equal grade, finds another very winnable race, and has been kept right up to the mark with a Warwick Farm trial in the interim. Maps well out wide, and gets a senior rider on again.

R8 #11 Zoukerino $6.00 @ PlayUpA very impressive debut winner back in mid-July, who I think can step to the next level with race fitness and experience on his side. He won a midweek maiden by an ever extending 3L, coming from on speed behind a hot tempo to score with some quick closing sectionals as well. A solid trial in between runs keeps him up to the mark, and he draws very well in barrier three for a winning trainer and rider combination. Competitive race which historically produces subsequent group winners, and I think this runner is the next in line.
