Midweek selections from the PlayUp form analyst.
Sandown Hillside R3 #1 Literary Magnate $1.80 at PlayUp – Fourth up here and ready to peak, looks the clear class of the field especially on rain affected going. She should relish the heavy 10 con dictions today, and with only 59kg after the claim for in-form apprentice Alana Kelly, she shouldn’t be disadvantaged by the top weight. Her lone career victory came on debut at Warrnambool on a heavy 8 by over 3L, and she has a listed placing on a soft track at The Valley as well. Strikes a winnable race here and can record her next win.
Sandown Hillside R4 #4 Tycoon Humma $3.90 at PlayUp – Comes into this race rock hard fit, having her sixth start of the prep. She has already won a race this prep, and is placed in two others and building nicely towards that next victory. She was far from disgraced behind Ashford Street at Caulfield last start, and that horse has since won again meaning it is a strong form line. She will be peak fit, drawn better out wide to find the best going, and although she hasn’t had an official race start on a heavy track she did win a trial on a heavy 10 by 8L last August.
Sandown Hillside R6 #3 Shakespeare $9.00 at PlayUp – Thought the return to racing of this horse last start was superb, winning a BM70 at Ballarat in good style. He got well back behind midfield off only an even tempo, and had no room when straightening up. As soon as the gaps appeared though, he was dynamic in his turn of foot and put them away nicely. Ran the fastest last 400m and 200m splits of the entire day as well. Twice a winner second up, and has won on heavy going previously which should help him today.
Randwick Kensington R3 #7 Zounique $5.00 at PlayUp – A horse racing well this prep, and should be delighted to get back on to firmer going here. He was no match for them on a heavy 10 at Canterbury last start, a surface that a number of runners throughout the day failed to handle. Prior to that he ran really well over 2000m at Wagga, and also ran 2nd in the Murrumbidgee Cup three runs ago. He gets in with no weight here at a perfect distance, and in a race that is handicapped to horses 5yo and above, he looks great value at the price.
Randwick Kensington R6 #1 He’s A Hotshot $3.90 at PlayUp – This looks the race for He’s A Hotshot to bounce back into the winners stall, after finishing second in two of three runs so far this prep. He was beaten a lip first up at Hawkesbury, and just got nailed late at Gosford two runs ago. Didn’t lead and failed to fire a shot at Rosehill last time out, but i’m willing to put a line through it. He should push and lead here from the wide draw, and this is a much easier contest than last start. All five career victories have come on good ground, and he is 17:0-6 on wet ground. The firm surface is a huge tick, and the jockey booking is positive as well.
