Racing Tips: 4th June

Another big Saturday of racing, with the G1 Queensland Oaks the feature at Eagle Farm. Great support cards in Sydney and Melbourne as well, and our form analyst has identified five key bets for the day.

Eagle Farm R9 #16 Le Villi $18.00 at PlayUp – Keen to be with the Australian Bloodstock runner here in the G1 QLD Oaks, a horse who is coming off an eye catching effort last start. She finished fifth behind Barb Raider in the G2 Roses, but was making up huge ground through the line after getting caught rearwards in the run. Her last 200m sectional was extremely strong, and the step up to 2200m here should be ideal. If that’s the form line you want to be working off, then she clearly is a forgotten horse by the market.

Flemington R7 #8 Cardinal Gem $3.60 at PlayUp – This horse is flying this prep, and I think has finally found the winnable race after two very close minor places of late. The first up third behind Star Patrol down the Flemington straight is an extremely strong form line, with that winner arguably a G1 star in waiting. He then got back behind a slow tempo and almost won from a near impossible settling position at this track and distance last start. Third up, fit, and ready to peak here from a good draw with a positive rider change.

Flemington R9 #9 Passive Agressive $2.45 at PlayUp – This horse could be a very good conveyance, and i’m tipping she can win three on the bounce. She comes here as her first start at Saturday level, but in two very convincing wins to date there’s nothing to say she shouldn’t be winning here as well. Both victories have smashed the clock and she is putting solid margins on her rivals as well, including a 6L demolition at Werribee on debut. She has a sharp turn of foot, as showcased by her running the fastest 400-200m splits of the entire meeting in both wins so far, and looks well placed here from a preferred wide draw down the straight.

Rosehill R6 #12 Terrameades $11.00 at PlayUp – Angling for value here, and this filly is racing in outstanding form having won two from four this prep, with two minor places as well. Her form lately behind Mirra View and Tympanist in the midweeks is actually very strong, and her two victories where both very convincing over the 1400m trip. It’s a distance she will relish today after stepping back from 1600m last start, and she looks very well drawn a touch wider with only 54.5kg on her back.

Rosehill R7 #4 Skyman $8.50 at PlayUp – Keen to see this Waller runner on the quick back up and returning to Sydney, off three solid performances so far this prep in Melbourne. He should’ve won at Caulfield two starts ago, and then struggled to make ground against a bias at Flemington last start but was far from disgraced, only 2L off the winner. Fourth up and peak fit, and the big 3kg claim is a master stroke here in a very winnable race.
