Racing Tips: 1st June

Midweek selections from the PlayUp form analyst.

Sandown Lakeside R1 #5 Legio Ten $4.60 at PlayUp – Confident this Godolphin galloper can turn the tables on Berkeley Square, after the two clashed at Geelong last start. He was only beaten 1.5L in the end, and that margin should’ve been much closer barring the fact this horse got no luck at a crucial stage. Only clear within the last furlong, he ran a meeting fastest last 200m split through the line but it was all too late. Third up, drawn nicely out wide I believe, and D Oliver will be keen to atone.

Sandown Lakeside R6 #10 Romany Rocks $6.00 at PlayUp – This runner was very good on the Hillside last time out, finishing under a length off the winner after sitting last in the field. The leader won this race as well, so it seems as though the shape was against Romany Rocks after she was left a big task to come from last. Her late splits were fantastic, including the fourth fastest last 200m’s of the day, and her last 600m sectional was 7L quicker than class average. Third up and ready to peak, looks well weighted and over the odds.

Sandown Lakeside R8 #9 Santero $10.00 at PlayUp – Very keen to be with this horse fresh at a great price, and is coming off an outstanding last prep where she never finished worse than third in six runs, including two very good victories. She is a super consistent horse, and this combination of Payne and B Egan are currently flying, coming off a mammoth day last Sunday where they combined for four winners at Mildura. They have 20 wins from their last 100 starts together, and have a 14.% profit on turnover. Her first up record of 3:1-2-0 is strong, and she looks well mapped on a good surface.

Warwick Farm R4 #7 Bella Rouge $3.40 at PlayUp – Was very good first up at Kensington on a heavy 9 over 1300m, finishing a length off Mirra View who is a proven city class Saturday horse. She now comes into this event second up and much fitter, and sticking to 1300m now will be ideal. The major key here is the draw, the wide draw is perfect for how this track should play as I am expecting the fence to be off, and horses will be winning coming down the outside. Waller/McDonald a lethal combination, keen this horse wins well.

Warwick Farm R7 #11 Glamour Fox $8.50 at PlayUp – Tricky way to round out the program, and i’m angling for value with Glamour Fox. She was good running third to the smart Savvy Legend when fresh at Randwick, coming from back in the field to steal a minor placing. Much improved for that effort, second up here where she has won two from six at this stage of a prep. Is a four time winner at the distance, is drawn wide, and looks well weighted against this opposition.
