Huge G1 day from Randwick yet again, with Day Two of The Championships featuring the G1 Queen Elizabeth stakes, It’s undoubtedly one of the best days of racing on the Australian calendar, and hopefully we can get through the meeting with the very wet weather around. Good cards from Melbourne and others around the country mean plenty of winners to be found. Check the PlayUp form analyst selections below.
Caulfield R7 #3 Belle Savoir $2.60 at PlayUp – A very talented filly looking to remain undefeated after a debut win, and a first up win last start at Sandown beating a handy field. She got back behind a slow tempo, but that was no issue as she ran the fastest last 200m sectional of the meeting to win, and her last 600m time was 9L quicker than benchmark average. Second up and fitter, and clearly has an abundance of talent. Has to make the step to city class, but she’s an impressive horse and finds a winnable handicap race for the 3YO fillies.
Caulfield R9 #14 Show Some Decorum $7.50 at PlayUp – A very fit race horse who is racing in the form of his life, and strikes a very winnable race to round out the program. Coming off two consecutive second placings, including last start behind Old Flame who he meets again here today with a huge weight swing. He maps perfectly from barrier eight to be close to the speed and finding cover, and the 1400m is his pet trip. Big claim helps, and he is fit enough to be extremely competitive in the last.
Randwick R5 #1 In The Congo $2.25 at PlayUp – Was very good in the G1 Galaxy first up behind Shelby Sixtysix, who had the gun sit in the race and descended late. It was always going to be tough for this runner to lead up the field and keep kicking, especially lacking the race fitness. Now second up, blinkers on, and has proven that he handles the wet track as well. Much better suited in this grade at this weight scale, and from barrier six can roll across and be handy. Looks the winner here in a competitive G2 Arrowfield.
Randwick R10 #4 Belluci Babe $3.60 at PlayUp – Running in near career-best form, and comes off a 4th place in the G1 TJ Smith last time out. That, for obvious reasons, is a very strong form line and back to G2 level will definitely suit. She definitely handles a heavy track, two fourth’s in G1 races and a Randwick 1200m win on a heavy 9 three starts back prove that, and with only 55kg here she will get through the ground no issues. She looks a great bet to round out a G1 day of racing.
