Drawn perfectly on the inside, i’m keen to have a good bet here on the opening favourite. His debut 3rd at Werribee was very encouraging, after settling near last and without cover he rattled home to place from an impossible winning position. It was a meeting fastest last 200m by a solid margin, and the last 600m sectional time was close to 8L quicker than benchmark grade average, and he is still in a maiden! Can be going a few better here, and settling closer too.
R4 #6 Netanyahu $3.80 at PlayUp
This runner was very good finishing 2nd when resuming this prep, and then a few things went wrong last start in an arguably forgivable effort. First up he got restricted for room at crucial stages behind an insanely fast tempo and was not left with much luck, and then a late rider change last start plus a slower tempo did not help his causes. D Oliver back aboard, third up ready to peak and sticks to the 1400m.
R8 #12 Always On My Mind $4.60 at PlayUp
A very smart maiden winner who should be going on with things here, after dispatching her last field in very fine style. She ran the fourth fastest last 200m of the entire meeting to win, and it was also 3.5L quicker than benchmark average. She will need to repeat that effort, now joining benchmark company, but as you can see the data says she is right in the thick of this grade ability wise. Very nicely drawn in barrier two for Mark Zahra, who is in exceptional form.
