Greyhound Tips: 12th February

Our followers would have enjoyed a very successful night on Thursday with three of our selections saluting at nice odds, including our best of the night, resulting in a very profitable overall result. We are looking to continue our efforts tonight at The Meadows, on a race card that has everything.

Three invitational Group 1 events, all over different distances highlight the twelve-race program, with five Preliminary Heats of the Group 1 Australian Cup being the support act. What great races the group races promise to be, the Temlee (525m), Rookie Rebel (600m) and the Zoom Top (725m) all look very open on paper. Let us attempt to steer the punters into some further winners.

The Meadows

Zoom Top – Race 5 No 8 Untapped $6.00 at PlayUp
Relative newcomer to the staying ranks but looks a star in the making. Strong all the winner at Wentworth Park, two starts back, in a heat of the Summer Cup, before uncharacteristically missing the start in the final and finishing a close-up 4
th. Her last run was much better than it looks on paper. From this draw she has the speed to cross the field and lead all the way. She is great each way odds and looks nice value. Selection: 8-5-2-4.

Rookie Rebel – Race 6 No 1 Jungle Deuce $2.15 at PlayUp
Absolute star performer over both the sprint and middle distances, with connections electing to tackle the middle-distance event here rather than the sprint. Won two Group 1’s during January, the Paws of Thunder at Wentworth Park and the Gold Bullion at Albion Park. Tenacious chaser who loves an inside draw. He does have speed on his immediate outside so it will be crucial for him to begin well and hold the rails in the run to the winning post the first time. If he can do that, he wins. Selection: 1-3-5-2.

Temlee – Race 8 No 7 Zippy Tesla $10.00 at PlayUp
We are selecting this greyhound but stress that when investing, do so on each way basis. This is such a tough race. Speed will come from Idolise (2) and Spotted Elk (3) on the inside and Do It (6) from off the track, and we can see this meaning trouble at first corner. Zippy Tesla is lightly raced but is smart field dog, he knows how negotiate through a field. And he will need to as he does lack pace to the first corner, but we can see up getting through to 3
rd or 4th down the back and we know how strong he can be late. Watch him storming over the leading dogs in the home straight. Aston Rupee (4) and Zipping Kyrgios (5) are also strong late, so it promises to be a great race. Remember, each way. Selection: 7-4-2-5.

Australian Cup Prelim – Race 3 No 1 Little Tiger $2.35 at PlayUp
Races extremely well at this venue and he excels from an inside draw. He has enough speed to lead all the way in this race, which does appear to lack a little depth.

Australian Cup Prelim – Race 4 No 8 Daph’s Zac $10.00 at PlayUp
Very tough race. This dog showed excellent speed last start to lead throughout from Box 4 when winning in nice time. We are banking on her beginning as well again, and if she can do that, she will cross them before the first turn and win.

Australian Cup Prelim – Race 7 No 8 Soda Fizz $2.80 at PlayUp
Extremely talented dog and a determined chaser. Despite being drawn out wide, we believe he can follow the expected leader, Scatterbox (6), across and get a great trail into the race. Super strong at the end of 525 metres and does rail well. We think he looks the best bet of the night at The Meadows tonight and is a banker for all your multi bets.

Australian Cup Prelim – Race 9 No 5 Ultimate Avenger $4.00 at PlayUp
When he is good, he is very good, but he can put in some average runs at times. Runs very fast times when given peace in front and we think he can find the lead relatively early tonight.  Runs the 525 metres out well, so if he can lead, he should be able to hold them out after that.

Australian Cup Prelim – Race 10 No 1 Zara’s Ivan $0.00 at PlayUp
The makings of a star galloper, just can be a touch hit and miss at box rise now.  We love this box draw for him even though he does use plenty of the track in the back straight.  This looks a very winnable race for him and he has the ability to make it through to the Australian Cup final in two weeks time.
