Racing Tips: 29th January

HUGE Saturday of racing all around the country, and the smell of Autumn racing is well and truly in the air. A number of black type events throughout the afternoon, with some very exciting horses going around. Take a look at the PlayUp form analyst selections below.

The Valley

R1 #8 Schiller Effect $6.50 at PlayUp
Very good on debut at Stawell last start, running a very unlucky second place when getting no running room late. She got back to near last behind a very hot tempo, and when improving in the straight she ran the fifth fastest 400-200m split of the entire day. Second up, drawn very well and actually drops weight from the debut run thanks to the claim. Matt Cartwright is riding in very good form, and this horse looks a very big each way chance.

R6 #2 Gentleman Roy $2.25 at PlayUp
Was certain this horse was going to win last start, but was not ridden to his strengths and was beaten on the post by Savannah Cloud. The two previous wins this prep at Geelong and Flemington he was ridden hard to lead and went along at a strong tempo, breaking the hearts of his opponents. Expect him to go back to those tactics here, jumping from barrier 11 will be stamped urgent to get to the front. If he finds the lead, he will be very hard to beat especially at this circuit.

R7 #10 Marabi $1.80 at PlayUp
Very exciting unbeaten mare comes here for her first look at Group level company, and expect it to be a winning one. She looks absolutely bombproof, always racing up on speed and is comfortable with a slow or fast tempo. From barrier four she looks to land in a perfect spot in running, and is already 2 from 2 unbeaten at this track and distance. Her ratings from previous wins says that she is not out of her depth here, expected to be winning.

Rosehill

R3 #5 Mumbai Jewel $11.00 at PlayUp
This looks a great each way play in the G3 for the 2yo runners, Mumbai Jewel resuming here for the Berry/Neasham combination. She was very good in the G3 Gimcrack on debut last Octobe behind Coolangatta, and was immediately spelled. Resumes here off two very strong trials and has drawn nicely here as well. Based on her very good debut, I don’t believe she should be double figures in this event and has to be a leading chance.

R7 #4 Forbidden Love $7.50 at PlayUp
If you haven’t seen the recent trial of Forbidden Love, I suggest you get online and take a look because they do not trial any better than this. It was over the 900m at Rosehill, and she easily kept up with Australia’s best sprinter in Nature Strip, sitting on his back and matching him through the line. It was super impressive, and with a record of two wins from three starts when first up, I think she goes very close to winning. Booking of H Bowman a big push, he is not a regular rider for this stable.
